Anyone doing a PRE-op liquid diet? I'm at the end of day five of a two week pre-op liquid fast. This week, I'm supposed to do two shakes a day and one small meal. I'm spreading the meal out throughout the day, but next week I'll be on ALL liquid. Can someone tell me what liquids you are taking in? Does this mean soups are acceptable? jello? SF popcicles. etc If you've had surgery with Dr. Hodges or Edwards particularly, I would be extremely grateful for even a PEP talk. I'm about to eat my dog! Tracey

Tracey Oh girl your too much. I went to my Dr last Wed and he put me on a 4 week liquid diet. (I was totally willing to do it) I am on a diet pill and dont want to eat anyways so I figure this would give me the final boost to my weight loss before surgery. I was giving a list of things I can have: Tea/Coffee Sugar Free Kool-Aid Crystal Light Flavored Waters (sugar free/non carbonated ie. Prople) Clear Broth (chicken, beef, vegetable) Sugar Free Jello Sugar Free Popsicles (as much as I want on all the above) Plus at least 5 servings of: No sugar added Carnation instant b-fast (made w/double milk) Low Cho Slim Fast Shakes Atkins Advantage Shakes Carb Solution Shakes If I feel hungry then I can up my servings from 5 to 10 per day. I also found out that maken your own protein shakes will be more cost effective then getting the premade shakes. So to start out I am buying the premade shakes until the powder I order comes in. Now with the Chicken Broth I found some that was so good. It is made by Herb Ox. They have beef and chicken and very low carb and sodium. I believe you get 50 packets for 16.95. And you mix one pack with 8 oz of ho****er. I found these when my mother was in the hospital. I was impressed with them for their flavor and taste. I hope this helps you out. Please keep me posted on how you are doing. You will be in my thoughts and prayers!!! Melissa

Tracey, You can do it. What Melissa said is what Dr Hodges told me. Call Mary if you are having some trouble. Trust me I don't think your dog would be very good. You wouldn't want to start barking would you? I ate a lot of sf popcicles and broth. I never cared for Jello but I did eat that too. Just think you are almost half way there. How much have you lost? I know you will. I also ate sf Braums fudgecicles. I also found that milk seemed to fill me up. Hope this helps. Connie
