I am 4 weeks post-op today. I lost 32 pounds before surgery. Surgery went fine, no complications. Had some dizziness that has been resolved. Now I have a bladder infection that I am being treated for. So what is the problem? I have only lost 2 pounds in the past 12 days. I have only lost 16 pounds since surgery. I am doing everything right. I am barely eating. I have been walking outside (last week in Florida) and walking this week on the treadmill at home. I just don't know what else to do. I am so upset, especially when I read post from those of you loosing so much, so fast. Help, any ideas? Barb

Barb, Dont give up. One thing I have to call to your attention is that you need to eat whether you feel like it or not. Make yourself eat 3 meals plus snacks. I also had about 7-10 days where I lost nothing. Your body is just catching up with your loss. But you have to eat and drink. Sip, sip sip. Each of our bodies function differently. Any questions please email me. Colette

Just had to say hi. I had Dr Hodges. I think he is great. Have you called the nut. I called her and she told me that I wasn't eating enough. Go figure. If you are really concerned call Mary and they will help. Connie

You need to get your protien in. If you dont get enough protien your body goes in the starvation mode and it is very hard to lose. Try to get at least 60 grams a day. 80 grams is better. If you cant stand any protien drink buy unflavored protien and put it on whatever you can eat. The protien will also give you some energy. Getting your water in is very important too. Everybody thinks not to eat but eating too little will mess you up. Different people also lose at different rates dont compare yourself with others it doesnt help at all. Be glad for how far you have come and you will be successful in the long run if your are doing things correctly.

David, you said that you have protien unflavored that you put on stuff. I have fiber like that and you truely can't taste it. Can you taste that stuff for sure? I need more protien, I have only been out 2 months and getting sick of protien shakes! I do drink enough but sometimes I forget to eat. Thanks, Penni

Barb... BREATHE BABES.... you are doing fine. At my first week postop check up I lost around 13-14 lbs. if memory serves right. The next two weeks were nothing like that I felt like I was doomed from the start. First of all your body is recovering from the shock of surgery. Think about it. It is an insult to your body... stresses it out bigtime. Then you are saddled with not being able to eat like you used to. Whoooooa Nellie..what is this the bod says??? You are not giving me the food I'm used to. So alot of times while things regroup the old bod goes on "strike"... It is incredibly important for you to drink your fluids. I don't care if you have to set a kitchen timer and everytime the darned thing goes off you drink a set amount even IF you don't feel thirsty or hungry. You HAVE TO DO THIS. Get your protein in. ISOPURE is a liquid that makes it easy to get in the protein. I also buy the Profect that you see advertised on the site here. Less than 3 oz. and it packs a whopping 25 grams of protein and HONEY..it is NOT THICK AND GUCKY like alot of protein drinks. I can actually drink it and that is saying something. Your body needs nourishment to recoup from the surgery... feed it and feed it quality food. The lbs. WILL come off... I promise *s* Elizabeth~

Thanks to everyone *****sponded. The bladder infection is better and this morning I had lost 2 more pounds. So that makes me feel better. I think it could be that I am not eating enough. But everytime I try to eat, I get this pain in my chest area. And I know the protein is an issue with me. Thanks again Barb

You might ask the doc about taking prilosec. I got a feeling like that when I was about a month out. It was horrible. I couldn't eat anything. My doc put me on prilosec. I took one a day for about 6 months and it really helped. It takes a week or so for it to really begin helping, but it does. I think you can buy it over the counter if you want. Those who have the mini gastric bypass done have prilosec prescribed from the beginning. I don't think it would hurt to try it. Also, I use GNC liquid protein. It comes in punch flavor. I put it in 24 oz of pink lemonade crystal light. It has a little taste but nothing at all like the protein powder and none of that protein-y smell. I can't stand that smell. The GNC is 18 grams of protein for 3 T. I usually do 6 T and drink it over a 2 hour period in the mornings. Good luck.
