I'm Home

So glad to be home. The surgery was on Thursday at St. Johns in Springfield. I was almost 3 hours late getting in. Dr. Hodges had two others before me. So the waiting was awful. All went well. The doctor told my husband that I was one of the easiest surgerys he has done. The biggest problem I have had was terrible back pain. When I woke up and all through the hospital stay. I came home late last night (Friday). Was good to sleep in my own bed. I have been up today, took a shower, and have mostly been in the recliner. I am drinking all the fluids I can tolerate. The thought of food makes me sick. Will just take it one day at a time. Let me just say for those getting ready. GET A PRIVATE ROOM at the hospital. They brought in a 90+ woman one hour after I got to the room. She moaned and groaned all night. Then about midnight she became verbal. Cussing and carrying on. It was awful. I told those nurses either they were moving me or her. They moved me down the hall with a really nice lady that had a big part of her colon removed. Her husband stayed all night with her and he snored all night! So I just gave up. I got out of there as quick as I could. I had asked for a private room but there wasn't one available. So that part wasn't so good. Right now I just kinda feel like I have been hit by a Mac truck. Guess it will get better. Thanks for all the prayers, it worked. Will post again as I start to feel better. Blessings to all Barb

I know what you mean about roomies! I had a room mate that was NOT a bariatric patient and everytime she was brought a tray of food, all I heard was "ooooh this is sooo good. mmmmm man this food here is so great." It was awful to listen to knowing that you cant eat.
