Edward, I went to Dr. Pitt for my rny. Most surgeons require that you attempt to lose some weight before surgery. Some surgeons will not operate on someone who has a bmi of over 60 due to complications that arise. I hope this helps. Stacey V. 299/172/191

I had Dr. Pitt as my surgeon and couldn't have asked for a better one. I had open RNY. Yes, I had to lose some weight before they would do the surgery because my BMI was too high, although it was rough I did it and I know you can too. I highly recommend Dr. Pitt and Boone Hospital they were wonderful before, during and after my surgery. All I have to do is call with a question and there is someone there with the answer. Don't give up and don't get discouraged things will work out, I will keep you in my prayers. Darla
