A friend of mine is interested in having the surgery. She is over 300 lbs but she has no co-morbidities. She is on medicaid. She tried Dr Scott's office and he won't do it unless she has co-morbidities. Does anyone know of a Dr in the Springfield area that would do this? Thank you in advance. Carol

I had to go to St. Louis for medicaid to pay for it. You can call Dr. Eagon at 314-286-2080. They are awesome to work with. Good luck. Wayne

Hi Carol, Are you suuuure she has no co-morbidities at all?? I didn't think I did either. The biggie that Dr. Scott looks for is sleep apnea. Has she had a sleep study test yet? I had one and surprisingly discovered that I had a mild case of it myself, although I am not tired all the time, etc. Maybe she could check into having it done. Also, if her b.p. is high after visiting her pcp 3 x's, they consider that hypertension, my pcp did anyway. I don't have asthma, so that was out and I don't have heart disease, but like I said, the biggie was sleep apnea...hope this helps. Good luck!!!! Kelly

I didnt have any co-morbidities either, but i was over 400 lbs too so maybe that had something to do with it. I would just tell her to call around there are a couple other posts with other doctor names on this message, just have her try them all till she finds one. good luck to her.
