Hi my name is Annie I am from Sarcoxie Mo, near Joplin. I am new to the Missouri boards. I plan on having surgery in Joplin in March. I wondered where everyone has had their surgery and how was your experience? Annie 290

Hi Annie, I had my surgery in California two years ago. (I just moved out here three months ago) Everything went fine with surgery. My husband had surgery two weeks after me and his was fine as well. We were lucky to have no problems at all. It took some time to adjust to the new eating and missing food, but it will all work itself out. I found that most of my issues were psychological. Now that I can eat whatever I want, I'm afraid of GAINING weight, so this isn't a cure all. I wish I'd started making SMART eating choices right away. Now I am trying to learn how to eat healthfully. It's nice to live way out here in a small town though, compared to where I was before, a mile away from all the fast food I could have ever wanted! Now I have to bundle up and plan for a trip to town (which isn't TOO far, but NOT one mile!! LOL) to get a fast food fix. And even though I don't eat as much as before, I still try my very hardest to make what I put in my mouth count! Well, that is a long ways ahead for you. You must have so many questions! Ask away, the great people here will be happy to help you out! (me too, can you tell I love talking/typing???) Take care and congrats on your upcoming surgery!! ~Kristen

Mine went great best thing I ever done for my self.I started at 355 it's been almost 9 mo now and have lost 150 so far..the hardest part is getting it in your head that you will not clean your plate LOL..and the things that I use to eat I can't eat any more for some reason I have to eat foods that are good for me.. LOL..I wish you the best of luck.. Shelly

Annie, I was lucky to be able to have my surgery in Columbia, MO where I live. So many of Dr. Scott's patients come from places in MO that are 2 - 4 hours drive from here. That makes it hard to have family nearby after surgery. It also makes the follow-up exams more difficult. I had lap RNY 4 months ago, and I have lost 78 pounds, 2 sizes in tops and 3 in pants. It's fabulous!! Linda
