Whoever you are I hope you like it!! Our monthly meeting is this coming Monday!!!! I hope to see you all there! I wish everyone lived close enough to come. I can't even get there at the beginning anymore due to my new work hrs but I WILL be there!!! Have a great weekend! Tamara

Tamara, Where at in the southwest are you? I am in Windsor Mo. and I have had a membership to curves for a year. Before my surgery I had been on medical leave since March. I want to resume. I asked the physical theapist about curves and he said that curves wasen't good enough and it dosen't get the heartrate up. Do you disagree because I love curves and I would really like to continue to going there. Let me know your take on it and I would appreciate it. Thanks again, Penni

In my opinion, if it makes you happy, it makes you move, and you LIKE it enough to GET UP AND GO (as opposed to ME and the GYM) then it's good! A FIT person wouldn't get as much out of it as an unfit person. It would be great for someone like me who isn't doing anything else!!!! You know what, I've never even been to curves, but I used to walk by one once a week to get to my w****chers meetings and the women in there were MOVING and laughing. Enough said, even if it didn't do anything for someone physically, atleast it gets you out and socializing in a positive way!! Take care and hope youc an get back to curves soon! ~Kristen

HI Penny, I go to CURVES in Ozark. My support group is in Springfield. CURVES gets my heartreate up because I WORK the circuit. There are people who come in, do 2 times around and no stretching and no they do not get their heartrate up. You have to work hard on the mats between stations and try for 3 times around and do all your stretches. I joined back in March (after going on a trial all of JAN.) and I lost 2 pant sizes my first month. Last week I had a physical and my Dr was checking for a hernia....he felt none, but said "my gosh you have some strong stomach muscles!" I was shocked! Under all my skin I guess I do have muscle s there!! LOL ANd I can thank CURVES for that. I do SOME additional exercises at home but not alot. I also do SOME walking....but not alot. When I have a crazy schedule and I do not get my 3-4 workouts a week in then I begin to notice the muscular tone in my legs goes away, and my ARMS...I have peopple comment regularly how muscular they are now and how it looks like I was never heavy by looking at my arms.(CURVES is the only thing helping my arms) The Dr who told you that must have had some patients go there who did not use it properly..cause it gets my heart rate UP there. In fact a few times I've had to decrease my intensity to allow it to come down a little. SO GO FOR IT!!!!!! Tamara

Tamara, are you talking about the support group at St. John's? If so, I'm interested in going. Do you have more info on it? ~Kristen

YES Kristen that's the one. If you scroll down to the post by Cathy Wilson(she's one of our facilitators)....the info should be there....if you need to know anything else let me know. Hope you can make it. I love going to this group!!! The first 30 mins we have a guest speakerm then a break then it's all talk from the group. (in an organized fashion) so you have a chance to ask questions and help others with answers, or just share some of your experiences. Tamara

Kristen OMG I just realized WHO you are!!! I remember you on the boards early post-op and I just peaked at your profile and saw you pic with DH and realized who you are! YOU LOOK AMAZING!!!!! How is DH doing?? When was your surgery? I was thinking we were close together. Maybe when I first saw you on the boards was when I was early post-op and getting ready to move to MO. Great job! THanks! You made my day! I had surgery 11/03/2003 and John 11/17/2003. (my husband) We were two weeks apart. We moved to Missouri in late August and love it here! If you see me at the meeting make sure to come up and introduce yourself. I am TERRIBLE about remembering people and details. I don't know what happened to that part of my brain! So embarrassing! Take care and hope to see you soon! Kristen

Kristen, Did you move here from CA?? I did about 14 mos ago. Maybe I knew you from there??? Not that I KNEW you but remembered you posting and that you and hubby were having surgery. I'll be getting to the meeting late but will look for you. Will your hubby come too? Mine has been to the last couple but not sure if he'll make this one. Tamara

We moved here from Bakersfield two and a half months ago. My husband won't go to the meetings. He is not into it at all. That's OK, i'm not into his dirtbiking stuff, so he never drags me along to that stuff! Everyone will have to send me emails to remind me to go to the meeting, since it's only a few days away, I'm sure I'll forget!!! Take care, Kristen
