I hope I am doing right. This morning I ate 2 or 3 sips of protien shake, 1 bite of yogurt. I also took my welbutrin (crushed of course) with my protien shake. Soon I will be taking my vitamins. Do you all think I am doing to much at a time? Yesterday the nurse said something interesting to me. She said that it was like having a baby, it new and you have to treat this situation like you would a baby. I never looked at it like that before. When I had my first baby I was frantic about what to do for everything and that is sorta how I feel now. When I had my first baby all I wanted was for a experienced mom to move in with me. Now all I want is a wls nurse to move in with me and tell me exactally what to do. I know that I have to listen to my body but that is hard to do when you have never done that before. Today will be a good day! I am giving it over to God and I know He will tell me what to do in every situation. He has brought me this far and He will continue to carry me through this. You all help alot to!!! Asking for more Prayers, Penni

Sounds like you are doing great. Make sure to get lots of sips of water in. Did your surgeon give you nutrition guidelines? For instance, you can eat this and this on day 6, you can addd this on day 12, etc....or week by week... My surgeon had a whole book about what to eat on what day out of surgery. I remember salad being about 8 weeks out and I could NOT WAIT to get some salad! LOL We also got guidelines as to how many bites to take and to wait two minutes between bites and don't drink anything a half hour before or after eating (some surgeons vary and say nothing 1 hour before and aftter, 90 mins before and after, or 15 mins before and after....so it sounds like there's not a 'set in stone' way, just don't drink right after eating food because it will wa**** away and you will lose the full feeling that will keep you from just eating again. (these are things to worry about later, right now, it's just important that you are GETTING a sip in here and there! You hang in there and ask any questions you have. We're here to help! ~Kristen

My angelette! You are doing fantastic! And turning it over to God will make the journey easier. I'm glad you are able to eat some. Remember to sip, sip, sip! Colette has her surgery Monday and I am visiting her at the hospital Tuesday after school. But wouldn't it be nice if a wls nurse/nutritionist could move in with us and guide us the first few weeks?
