St. Joseph, Missouri

I am considering bariatric surgery. Got PCP Ok and he has suggested KU Med Center. Anyone from St. Joseph, Missouri here in this group? I want a peer from St. Joe. Do I have to keep driving back and forth to KU after surgery? Is there a support group that meets in town post op? Thanks

Hi. I'm in Maryville and I have the Lap Band. There are several people in the area that have had weight loss surgery and there's even a support group that meets once a month in St. Joseph. You don't need to be post op in order to attend the meetings (I've only been to one though because I can't always make the drive down). It's a pretty small group so far, I believe. I am from the St. Joe area. I have had lap band surgery as my daughter. I had surgery in April this year and have lost 84 lbs. My daughter has lost 18 since Sept. 7th 2005. We have a support group meeting in St. Joe. My daughter had Dr. Lopez at Midwest Bariatric. I go to Dr. Malley for my fills. He used to be at MWIBS but left.
