consultation on 10/26, what to expect?

hey everybody, hope this post finds you all doing well on this sunny monday... i just wanted to see if you guys could give me a heads up on what to expect during my initial consultation on 10/26/05. i am having the lap band procedure done with dr. stephen malley at the malley surgical wl center in overland park ks. ive already met with dr. malley and really like him and his willingness to answer my questions without hesitation. ive already gotten my paperwork faxed over, now im just eager to get this ball rolling!!! it took me almost 6 months to decide to go ahead with this surgery, and now i just want to get through it and get started. anyone else here have a lap performed by dr. malley? any insight would be helpful!!! im also looking for some email friends to kinda "buddy-up" with during this process... its my first surgery/hospital anything and im a little nervous. take care!!!

Hey Lissy, Well I had the RNY done, however I am told the procedure is very similar, without the cutting of the stomach. As for the hospital, well take the nurses advice, bring a fan, a comfy pillow, something from home is nice to have. I had a magazine to read but was in a wee bit of pain so I ignored it.. LOL. Dont worry the pain meds rock.. LOL. A pair of comfortable shoes, pants, and a comfy top. Oh god now I am sounding like the nurses. At your consult they will talk diet before, after, the surgery itself, what to expect, how to set some goals for your weight loss, pretty much standard stuff. If you ahve certain questions you can ask them here and I am certain someone can answer them. I wouldnt worry, they will tell you all you need to know and then some.
