Hi all, Well after a huge success of the ? of the week I am adding a ? of the day. So here it is..... What is your weight loss goal? Pre-ops and post ops can answer this one. So toss us a number and if you want toss in your Pre-op weight, Current weight, and goal. I know this is a sore spot with alot of people, however this is a great way to get support for those that are hitting a plateau, slowing down, or need a boost to tell them how well they are doing. And trust me there is no one that needs a boost sometimes more than me.. So, as for me... I was at 314.5 week prior to surgery, now down to 201 4.5 months out, surgeon goal was to be below 200, personal goal to be in the area of 145-150. Gevin

Well Gevin, thanks for the question. I am having surgery Nov. 11 with Dr. Hornbostel in Sedalia. I weigh 308 right now. My doctors goal is 160. It sounds like alot. I don't know if I can do that. I am short so I know my frame can't take that much more abuse. Thanks again, Penni

Penni, I have no doubt~!!! you will meet your goal and more than likely surpass it. it will take time just like all good things, and support from others, but thats what we are all here for. One thought, try starting your liquid diet 1-2 weeks prior to surgery, with Dr approval of course. Maybe not total liquid, I went on full liquids the week prior, but two weeks prior ate one reg meal and two liquid ones. That will do two things. 1. You will drop some weight prior, not a bad thing. 2. Help you to get ready for being post-op. The first couple of weeks are tuff for those like me that used to love to eat. So talk to the Doc and see what they say. I think the more we talk about things such as this the more it will help us and others. Gevin

Hi Gevin, These questions might be fun....the last one made me blush, tho, so I didn't answer. I started looking into surgery at over 350 (I'm only 5'2"!!), my pre-op was 324.5, I am now 296 (at 1 month post-op) and my personal goal is 150. My surgeon and I never talked about his goal, but I'm sure my personal goal may be too low. But since I was 170-180 in high school, I would really like to be below that, but I would be happy to be the same weight I was in school (which was over a zillion years ago) Thanks for the fun! Peggy

Peggy, Now that your over the shock of the last question and no one can see you blush here, go back and toss in an answer... Now back to the daily question, but first WOW your doing great on your weight loss~!! I would guess that you will hit your goal weight and surpass it in no time at all. And if you get to your weight you was back 83 (High School times) thats great too. Oh thats when I graduated High School, thought I saw you there, maybe not.. Kidding.... Anyhoo, keep up the great work and remember we are all here rooting for you~! Oh, you thought last question was bad wait till you see the next one.. It deals with clothing... I will leave it at that... Gevin

Gevin Man what a good idea to ask questions of the day. Good job thinking this up. Okay I havent had surgery yet. Just pretty much waiting for a date and need to loose some more weight to be safer. When I went to my Dr for the first time on the 26th of Sept I was 489lbs I had my another appointment with him on the 10th of Oct and I am down to 463lbs . He wants me down below 450lb to do the surgery due to maching weight limit. Over all after surgery I would love to be at 225lbs. Thats my goal of course hubby says that too skinny he loves BBW (Big Beatiful Women) But supports me with whatever I get down too!! Melissa

Melissa, Your weight loss from the 26th till the 10th is outstanding~!! See thats what i am talking about. And you should be sooooooo proud, just think only 14 more till you can have surgery. A piece of cake, LOL, ok dont have that unless it has Splenda in it, HEHE. As for a goal, try 425 first, then say I wanna be 410, then 400 etc etc. That way, hubby has his BBW, of which I agree with hubby I to am a fan of BBW.. Your your goals will be realistic and if your like me, get a reward at every goal...Woo Hoo As for 225, I say shoot for the moon and what ever weight is the best for your height and how you feel. If you feel 2,000,000% better at 225 I say go for it. If hubby thinks your to skinny tell him, "Oh yea look at me in my new dress~!" See what he sais then... Gevin

Gevin, My current weight is about 265, I am scheduled for surgery 11/29 and my goal is 120. I'm only about 5'3" and in high school was between 110-120 - I would love to be back down there. There is a picture of me on my profile from when I was about 120 (early 20's) so I have something to shoot for!!

Hi Terri, Looks like your on track and have a good goal set. I was just telling Melissa to set mini goals that are easy to achieve, gets rewards for making them and set one big one and thats to be healthy. See your 5'3'', I am 5'6'' ok 5'5'' without traction, LOL. So ok we can dance at the Ball. Just dont tell hubby, he might be alot taller than 5"6''. I kinda liked the pic to the left, your way to young for me in the other one.. Ok enough goofin... If thats the size you wanna be, you know me I say go for it~! Actually a good time to start is before surgery. I dont liek the advice of going out and eating everything in site prior to, I say start an exercise program, Dr approval of course. And start trying some new foods, but please keep in mind and I am sure you have heard this. Things you like now, after surgery you may not.. trust me on that one... Well Tanks for chiming in, so glad to see people yappin... Gevin
