Hello everyone I'm just now starting the procedure of seriously looking at researching for a TT. I know this will not happen overnight and will admit to being intimidated and a bit scared about it all. I have a few questions, when I talked to my PCP she was not supportive about getting anything approved with insurance, she asked me if I wanted a TT, could certainly see that I would benefit, but told me flat out insurance would not pay for it! Has anybody out there managed to get insurance approval even without their PCP help? Is it possible to have a consult with a plastic surgeon and get insurance approval with their assistance? Does anybody here work for the state and gotten it covered with their insurance? Any suggestions would be welcomed! Lulu

Dear Lulu, I am also looking into tt. I have a plastic surgeon and she says my Medicare will pay for a tt. You don't need a pcp to get approval. I don't know what kind of insurance you have, but most will pay if it's medically necessary. If you get rashes or infections or if it impedes your mobility. You need to contact some plastic surgeons and see what they say. They all pretty much know what insurance will pay for. Good luck! Carol

Carol, I also heard that it can be approved for the above reasons. Colette
