Weekend Walkers

Hi all, Well one of my fitness goals for this year and part of the Mayo Clinic study I am doing is to get a group as pre-op and post-op folks together to walk / ride at a mall or park as part of our new fitness regime. To date I average about 1.5 miles per night either walking or riding my recumbent and it has helped a bunch. I am now down to 204 a loss of 111 lbs and that has been in a wee over 4 months. So, my question is.. Is there anyone interested in forming a walking riding group that would at a predermined location and go for a nice walk, or a nice bike ride? I was thinking the malls are great for winter time when it is to cold to walk out side and the fall is a great time to start walking and riding. Everyone would need clearance from their Physician of course and be ready to have fun. The walks / rides would all be gaged on distance the group choses. I have gone as far as 10 miles in one day and I was sore, however a nice 3 mile ride or a one mile walk is plenty especially if your like me and was almost crippled before surgery. If you want to walk / ride less thats fine too~! No info is going to be passed to Mayo other than that I met one of my fitness goals and started a walking / riding group. And I am in no way affiliated with mayo Clinic other than to be a patient. So toss in your ideas, locations etc. I would prefer that the trail or mall be within 30 mins ride for most of us i.e., Mid Rivers, Wentzville, Chesterfeild, Creve Couer Lake etc.... I know there are just so many malls and parks to chose from, however gas and hauling bikes can be an issue. So let me know either here or via e-mail. Try... [email protected] [email protected] or [email protected] I am sure to answer one of them. Gevin, My hubby and I might be interested in bike riding. He and I both had surgery and we both like to ride bikes. We are in south city. They are building new biking trails around us, but also there's a nice paved trail in south county called Grant's Trail. It is a 6.2 mile trail, but of course, there's no reason we couldn't shorten the trip so that a round trip is 4 miles or so. Here's a good list of bike trails in the area: http://www.stlbiking.com/Menu_Trails.htm My hubby has his kids every other weekend, so working around that is challenging, especially with the weather changing soon. We are cold weather people, though, and would probably ride in weather as cold as 40 degrees. Thanks for the idea. - Beth

I think it is officially called Princeton Heights, just south of Southampton. I guess we are west of you.

I am up for it..........its always great to walk or ride with others. I heard that there is a new park in Wentzville off of Hwy 40/61 that has a nice trail. Also the Katy Trail, its nice and flat and you can just go on forever. And by the way, you are doing awesome.......you are 10 lbs smaller then me.........lol
