Support Group
Yes, the group is still functioning but, with different leaders. The meeting is every 2nd Monday from 5:30 to 7:00. It at the St. John's Surgery Center...and it's right accross from the main hospital. There is a note on the elevator as to what room it's in. It's a huge group and fun.
So, hopefully I'll see you Monday October 10th!! If anyone knows this to be incorrect please post and let us know. Hey if you send me an email I'd be happy to send you the email that the new leaders sent me with all of the details.

Hi Everyone! I am one of the facilitators for the support group in Springfield, MO. The New Beginnings Support Group is most definitely continuing. The location, meeting dates and times remain unchanged. I have provided the details below:
The next meeting of the New Beginnings Support Group is scheduled to meet Monday, October 10, 2005, at the St. John's Surgery Center, Classroom 4B, 1229 E. Seminole, Springfield, Missouri. We meet from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
The New Beginnings Support Group for Bariatric pre and post-op patients, and their support members, is an independent group, so it is not governed or sponsored by Cox, St. John's, or any other entity. We welcome pre-op patients, post-op patients, family members, and general public. You may be a part of our group regardless of where you have had your surgery, and you don't have to be a patient to attend.
Each meeting features a guest speaker, such as bariatric surgeons, nutritionists, plastic surgeons, exercise physiologists, social workers, post op patients, etc., a question and answer period for the guest speaker, and open sharing for group members.
This month's speaker is Katie Branson, ACSW, LCSW, CASAC. Katie has worked closely with many bariatric patients and specializes in bariatrics and food-related issues.
For future reference, the New Beginning Support Group meets on the second Monday of each month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Please feel free to contact me for more information. I look forward to seeing (hopefully) all of you on Monday!
Thanks, Cathy
