For all of those who have already had their surgery with Dr. Scott. Has anyone been over 450lbs. And still had the surgery done. Please feel free to email me if you would rather reply that way. [email protected] Thanks Melissa

Melissa, In the seminar I attended I thought they said that no one over 350 could get surgery. But they will help people get down to that weight. I also heard they won't turn someone away for being over that weight!

The best thing to do would be to call Dr. Scott's office directly. Information is usually most reliable when you talk to the source, especially because weight limit is often attributed to the capacity of the surgical equipment, not the surgeon's preference. Pamela 352/234/150

I started off at 411 and he wanted me to lose 40 lbs before he would do the surgery, but he ended up doing it after I lost only about 20 lbs. I would say that if you are over 450, then just do your best to lose as much as possible while under the supervision of him and he will do it sooner than you think. Also, I had asked him once what was the highest weight he has performed surgery on laproscopically and he said 450, so I think it is all in the way you show him that you can stick to a diet before the surgery and not so much how much you lose or weigh.

Melissa, I started the whole process at well over 450 in fact I was a tad over 500 and he told me at the very beginning that he wanted me down to 450 before he would do the surgery. However he will help you get the weight off. He had me go to exercise therapy 3 times a week for a month and it was monitored by a therapist and he also prescribed me some medicine that REALLY worked it is an appetite suppressant called Meridia it is very exspensive and alot of insurances will not pay for it. I had Medicaid and they would not pay for it and it cost me like $96 a month and I was on it for 3 months but I lost alot of weight by taking it so the cost didn't bother me as bad when I would see the results. So basically the answer to your question: YES he will do surgery if you are 450 or below but also like he told me the smaller you are the easier it is on you and them. Hope this helps you, Cindy
