So excited!!!!!
I AM APPROVED and my date is November 11. I can't believe it is happening. God is truly good. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I am not really worried about the surgery but it is the learning to eat. I have a eating addiction and I know it is going to be hard for me to look at food and know that I can't eat it. I know I will be fine because other people have done it. Thanks for all of your prayers, Penni
Penni, congrats! My grandfather used Dr. Hornbostel and also lives in Windsor MO, so you most likely know him! I am very happy for you and wish you the best of luck! My grandfather has done very well with the surgery, and highly recommends Dr. Hornbostel. I, myself, have my surgeon consultation tomorrow with Dr. Augustin here in Kansas City, and my fingers are crossed that all goes well!
Penni,
I'm fairly certain most people who have this surgery have an eating addiction. I know I do. It has been a lot easier to eat right than I thought it would be. I think it may be more difficult later on, but the things I like the most--good bread and sweats (I'm a chocoholic) will make me sick. I just look at those things and think of them as poison for me. So far, I haven't been tempted.
I am two months out tomorrow; I have lost 55 lbs.; and I have found a lot of good things to eat that are on my food plan. The pouch keeps you from eating too much.
Before surgery, I felt like you do. My phsychologist (who also has had the surgery) told me to not worry about it. Things change after surgery, and you can do what you have to. We go through a lot after we choose surgery, and we can do this too.
Where are you having your surgery? I'm guessing Sedalia. At least I think that's where Dr. Hornbostel practices. Good luck and keep coming back to this web site. There are good people here who will be happy to provide support.
Linda
Melissa,
It won't be long now. I know it seems far away, but the time will go quickly. I only knew for about two weeks before my surgery. I think someone cancelled or their insurance didn't come through. Dr. Scott is usually booked up farther in advance than that.
Thanks for the applause. I appreciate all the support I get from the OH message boards.
Linda
I am very happy for you! I can tell you from experience that this will be the absolute best thing in the world that you could do for your children and yourself.
As for being nervous and excited...completely normal. Yes, there are some parts of surgery that are difficult (those darned food issues, for example), but NOTHING can take away from the exhilerating feeling of having your life back.
Best wishes for the journey of a lifetime!
Pamela
