Another Missouri Newbie
Hi all I'm finnaly gonna start posting.
I'm 33, happily married, mom of one. I'm @352# and am 5'3".
I've chosen Dr. Hoen for my RNY surgeon and am currently seeing Dr. Shadrach Smith in KC for my weightloss doc because H@R Block has an exclusion on our insurance. And I'm seeing Dr. Sabapathy for working on things before surgery.
I've gotta lose about 20-30# the old fashioned way before I can see Dr. Hoen. Big bummer and have not had an easy time of it for 6 months.
I need some encouragment. I think 6 monthes may have sounded like a long time to wait and now knowing ti could happen so much sooner may make me kick in gear.
But just looking to say hi and get to know you all and your stories.
Thanks
Jen
Welcome to the Missouri board!
You sound like me...happily married, mother of one, with a starting weight of 352. Except I just turned 30, so you've got me beat on that one!
I'm sure you've tried to lose weight many times in the past. Was there something that seemed to work well, at least in the short term? Did some diets work faster than others? With the right motivation (and I think you've got it with a possible surgery coming up!), you should be able to lose the required amount of weight within a couple of months. Or, if you're like my sister who ate nothing but refried beans, about three weeks.
You can do a search of the OH library for ideas. Sometimes knowing what other people did before their surgeries can be a big help. And read a lot of profiles! That helped keep me motivated!

Not sure if you got replied to yet but Dr Hoehn works out of Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee Mission, KS and Heartland Spine & Speciatly in Overland Park, KS. His office is in an office building right beside Shawnee Mission Medical Center. He is absolutely wonderful.
By the way, i have family not far from Diamond. I think they are in Pierce City now. I think thats close.
Good Luck, if you have any other questions about this surgeon or any others that he works with i would be happy to answer any questions. I also know that Dr Hoehn has his own website and patient forum.
