Recipes???
Hey! I'm just beginning the process for having RNY. However, I'm changing things now; such as not drinking carbonated beverages, making recipes that are high in protein. I figure I better find things that I like to eat now than to try and find stuff when I'm not feeling good. ;)
There are a lot of different kinds of meat (rabbit, most beef cuts, most fish) that I cannot eat; so I was wondering what others eat. Do you have any recipes you could share with me?
Oh, and I've heard that you're not supposed to eat ground meat after surgery. Is this true?
Can you still have Chinese food? If so, just the meat and veggies or rice also?
Thanks so much for your help!

Hi Nettie,
I have Dr De Le Tore and his staff gave me a packet that shows all of the foods you can have post op. Keep in mind your new stomach may not tolerate the foods when it sais you can have them. The general rule of thumb is no red meats for 6 months. Your new stomach wont be able to process red meats such as those you listed. Ask your nurse or nutritionist for a list of foods and at what time after surgery you can have them. patience here is the key, trust me on that one. I am 3 months out and still cannot eat most of the foods on the list. I have a picky new tummy, but I am working on getting lots of proteins in.
Recipes, see Dame Tooters website http://www.bariatricbytes.com/ She has a ton of good stuff on there, but as she states make sure you talk to your Dr~!.
Good luck and remeber there are alot of folks going through what your going through right now.
