Woah! Whats that smell?

Ok this is my first,so be kind,(message that is)have 12 days left my surgery is 8-9 05. Live in Sedalia. I have been eating everything in sight and digging some old stuff up too!.... Wi**** was over! Well anyway the reason I am posting was I read somewhere about a pill you take for oder,... ????? I am confused about this,...and the other thing that worries me is my hair???? Am I going to loose my hair? Would appreciate anyones advise. May the Good Lord Smile upon us all!

Hi, Marilyn! Welcome to the group. I pigged out pre-op, too. I think that's a common thing around here. Some people take Devrom if they have stinky gas after surgery. I tried it and it did help with the odor, but mine isn't that bad to begin with so I don't use it. Some people do lose hair. I haven't. Nobody knows for sure why it happens to some people and not others. I've heard it can be from low protein, or maybe lack of vitamins, or maybe from the anesthesia. Like I said, I haven't lost any and I've had a wild time since surgery with 4 rounds of anesthesia and not getting in my vitamins or protein for weeks at a time. Woohoo! Your date will be here soon! Thanks for answering my questions,.. I was just checking out your profile and about the DS surgery over the RNY,.... It sounds like a better way to go,... wonder why he the doc didn't talk about that one at the semiars,.... hummm he only compared RNY with Lap Band,... as if there is one anyway. I am tired and need to go to bed my feet are huge,.. need to get them up,.. I will read some more tomorrow and would like to hear from you again if you have time and thanks again,... Marylin

hello marylin just letting you know we are going to be in the hosp. at the same time my op is aug 8th and dr phillip hornbostel is my surgeon. i hope to see you yhere at least in passing in the hall. i had a previous op and am going back to fini**** i coulden't have the regular op because of a bad liver but in 6 mos i have healed up. yes most people do lose some hair, i did but thank God i have plenty to start with. about the smell i have not had a problem with smell except after my op everything had a strong smell i think i could smell what the neighbors were having for supper. i can't tolorate milk products and my craving for chocolate is gone. i hope to see you in sedalia. good luck loretta

WEll I'm sorry but I am not going to be there after all Loretta,... I have decided to switch the type of surgery that I was going to have. I'm going to Omaha to see a Doctor there that does the BPD which is the By-pass Duodenal Switch.
