Getting closer

Yesterday I spent an entire dire on WLS. I attended Dr. Scott's pre-op class for 3 hours in the morning. For 3 hours in the afternoon, I did pre-op clinic stuff. Actually about 2 hours was spent waiting. There was a clog in the system (anesthiologist) and no one rerouted us to the other tests. Since I was in my sheep mode, I just waited. That made me late to my 4:00 regular appointment with my psychologist, but she waited for me. Bless her, she's an . Next Tuesday is the big day. I am excited and a bit I am looking forward to my re-birthday as the start of a new way of life for me. I can't wait to get going. The anxiety is about surgery itself, since this is my first. I will try to update my profile this weekend, because it is hopelessly behind. I will be shopping for the first week after surgery too. Any suggestions from post-ops? Linda

Linda... I am so thrilled for you! I can't wait to see how everything goes and how you feel. Take care of yourself and try to stay cool as you're shopping this weekend. I can't wait to have a look at your updated profile. Once again, congratulations and be sure to keep us posted! Blessings, Peggy

Peggy. Thanks for your support. I'm going to head out to Wal-Mart early tomorrow morning with a very short shopping list. I look forward to the day I can shop for hours without feeling exhausted. Linda

Linda, My suggestion is don't buy in bulk!! Something that you liked before, you may not be able to tolerate or not like at all. I bought box upon box of sugar free jello (I think I gave away about 13 boxes) also crystal light (my pre-op drink of choice for sugar-free) I gave away 15 containers (they were on sale 3 for $5) I only wanted water. I found the items that I used were things I already had on hand (ramen noodles my kids ate the noodles and I drank the juice, skim milk, or just good old boullion cubes, and I think cream of wheat) but if you are anything like me the first 3 weeks all I wanted to do was drink water I remember crying and thinking to myself what the heck did I do I couldn't get a good drink I was thirsty all the time but thankfully it passed. You'll do just fine you just have to take it one day at a time and sip, sip, sip, and walk, walk, walk. Cause we saved you a seat on the losers bench (just think who would have thought it would be so GREAT to be a LOSER!!!!!) Denna 363/220/175

Denna, Thanks for the encouragement. I am from Collinsville originally. It's always good to see Metro East people on the board. I will take your advice. I already have a ton of SF jello. When I was doing Weigh****chers I found this recipe for a really good pie that used it. Any time I planned to make it, I forgot to see what flavors I had at home, so I bought more. Somehow I always ended up with extra jello. I have some boullion and some crystal light. Unfortunately, I bought the Crystal Light last week without knowing I shouldn't have the ones with tea. I can't wait to join all of you on the losers' bench. Your weight loss numbers are fantastic. Linda

Good luck with your surgery!! Try and find a good protein drink, and some good tasting broth, or you can get soups and blend them up. Sugar free popcicles and a drink like crystal light or decaf tea to sip on. At around 10 days post-op I started adding a little sugar free pudding, cottage cheese, mashed/baked potatoe, refried beans, and things like that. Hope this helps! Kelli 255/265/150>?
