Swallowing pills
I'm seeing Dr. Wagner Tuesday, July 5 for my five week checkup. I've been pretty good actually. As of today, I've lost 33 pounds (462 to 429) since I've been home from the hospital on June 2. My BMI has gone from 54 to 48. My energy is much better for the most part. I probably went back to work too soon. I went back to work one week after surgery. I'd do great in the mornings and get tired in the late afternoon. I would have to take a one hour nap as soon as I got home from work. I'm diabetic and my blood sugars have been normal every time I've tested after surgery. I did have a bit of a scare last night. I let too long go by without eating or drinking anything after an early small dinner (I had two ears of corn on the cob, slap me now) and was doing a lot of housework. Around 10:00 pm, I started feeling really strange, tested my blood sugar and it was 48. I had some glucose tablets, took two of those immediately, ate some deli turkey and a glass of milk, got my sugar back up to 150 before bed. Fortunately, I'm seeing my endocrinologist tomorrow morning so I"ll discuss this with him. I might need to go off my insulin, I'll ask him about that.
I've been very lucky. I haven't had any nausea or vomiting or abdominal pain since I got home from the hospital. The hospital stay itself was very difficult. I'm six foot seven and my bed in the hospital was at least a foot less than that. That was rough.
So far, I don't have any regrets about the surgery. I think Dr. Wagner did a fantastic job. Maybe the only regret is that I didn't get it done sooner. Scott
My doc, Dr Scott, had told us that we didnt have to crush pills if they were the size of a pea. So I havent really had to crush anything. I split my B1 and thats about it. I dont have any problems with taking them either. I know I couldnt tolerate crushing my pills, I tried that for the first day or 2 and was so glad when I could just take the pills and get it over with.
