It's hard to believe, but I got a letter of approval from my insurance company. I see Dr. Scott on 7/13, and I am hoping for a swift beginning to this journey. This is one time a Missourian wants to be on the losers' bench. Linda

Linda, LOVE IT!!! So glad you are on your way! Exciting isnt it... All the possibilites are right there, and youre just about ready to reach out and grab them! What a wonderful gift! Dr. Scott did my surgery too and you are in wonderful hands. Isnt his support staff so kind? I just love them too! They are always there to help. Know that I'll be cheering you on Linda.... I'm just a bit ahead of you in this journey, but I can tell you that the gift better health and mobility... is priceless. It's worth all the effort, and the discomfort of surgery! I will always love to hear about your "wow" moments, and the moments that arent so fun either.... we are all in this together! Ardie

Ardie, Thanks so much for your words of encouragement. How are you doing? I checked your profile, and it hasn't been updated since your surgery. I like the inspiration quote you have on your profile. It is so very true. Linda

Hi Linda, I keep forgeting to update the page! Thanks for the reminder.... I'm doing really well. Since surgery the 31st of May I have lost about 48 pounds.... I loving it alot! I am one of the lucky ones I havent really had any problems... The only thing Im really having trouble with is fluids... I get them in but want more and have a constant thirst. I went to my PCP today and really all she could do was listen, and then took some blood to see where I am at and if there is something wrong. I really dont think so. I think it's just a head thing and behavior modification is in order. Doing more of the ice stuff and it helps. The protien shakes makes the thirst a very big problem. But I'll get that worked through tho... For me there has been big adjustments and quite frankly I have been very fortunate to have a Counselor (that also had the surgery... so she's been there done that too!) to help me work all of this out. For me and my little soap box I really think us gastric bypass folks need some sort of something this first year.... just my opinion! It really has helped me come to grips with myself and all the good changes that are happening and also the regret that does come along with it too. Just nice to have someone to bounce all the feelings and thoughts to. I have absolutly drove my family nuts! Ask me if I feel bad?!! hee hee So all in all I'm such a blessed woman... I have been handed back my life and am so enjoying it even now. You will too Linda... you will make the most of your gift of good health and enjoy all that surrounds you. You know I am so excited for your appt with Dr. Scott! Youre on your way! I get such a boost when I hear others are going to be joining me on the "Loosers" bench. I just know that for me when I was 486 lbs I was so unhappy and lost... now with 186 pounds down and at 300 life is so different. I can't wait until I can cross my legs! Simple little goal but I know that when I can it will be one of those wonderful "wow" moments! I really cant wait for you to have those with me too! Ardie

Connie, Thanks for your cheers. How are you doing? I know I am doubly blessed, because Dr. Scott and University Hospital are right here--no long rides and hotel stays. I hope you are doing well. Linda

Linda -- Feeling much better now. Started with protein drinks yesterday. Actually, the home orders I got when I was dismissed on Saturday, after my scare with the infection, told me to start on Stage 4 of the diet. So I'm slowly trying soft foods. Not having any trouble...and praying that continues!!! I will be heading back to Branson in the morning, so am praying that all continues to go well!!! Connie

Connie, How long were you in the hospital after surgery? Did the infection scare happen after that? Was your RNY done Lap? I am concerned about infection because my mother had surgery a few years ago (hysterectomy), and she got an infection in her incision after she was home. It was not a good thing. Linda

Sorry Linda!! Now that I'm back in Branson, I have limited computer access!!! I had my surgery on Monday and went home Wednesday afternoon. It was on the following Tuesday that I spiked a fever of 103, had a LOT of drainage, and went to the ER. From there they sent me -- after I INSISTED they call University Hospital!!! -- to Columbia via ambulance. And yes, my RNY was done Lap. But, all is well now. Connie
