I heard from the wls office today and I was so excited until I looked in the packet and saw all the information I had to find for insurance. As I was going over the info it didn't look like I had enough health problems for insurance to approve. My BMI is 60 and I have back problems but not alot of the other things listed. I have only been on 3 diets and I did it on my own no physition ordered it. I have just had doctors tell me I needed to loose weight. They want dates and stuff I don't know if I can even get. Anyway, I am freaking out again. If I don't get this surgery I don't have any hope. Worried, Penni

I had a BMI of just over 70 with no co-morbities. All you have to do is document any and all diets you have tried and the results. It may also help to ask your family doc to write up a letter of recommendation for the surgery as well. You really dont need to fret about all of this just yet. You qualify without a doubt due to your BMI. Just get as much info as you can from all of your previous doctors as far back as possible and then sit down and just see what kind of information is in those charts. You may have weight issues that were written up in the charts. Or you could just submit them along with the packet just so they can see it themselves and decifer them for you. Dont give up just yet, it is a long journey but one that is worth it. Trust me, it took over a year to get my surgery done and it wasnt because I was denied but because he wanted me to lose pre-surgery weight first. I dont know who your doc is, but if it is Dr Scott, then you will have to lose 10% of your body weight before surgery if you are over 350.
