Excited newbie!!

I think I posted on this board once before, but I tend to lurk and reply. I'm so excited today that I had to post. I got a letter from Dr. Scott's office saying I am a candidate for WLS surgery. I am planning Lap RNY. The letter included an appointment for the stress test, which I had to postpone for a week, because my husband and I will be on a cruise to Alaska. Woo Hoo!! I have an appointment with Dr. Scott in mid-July. I'm feeling blessed so far. I sent my application in about 2 weeks ago. I attended the mandatory information seminar last night not knowing the letter was mailed yesterday. I am hopeful my insurance company will approve. When I called 2 weeks agao, I was told they did if I had a diagnosis of morbid obestity. I'm pretty sure a BMI of 46 qualifies I just had to share this. My husband isn't home from work yet. Hi Linda!! I'm an excited newbie, too! And I tend to lurk alot too, I have learned tons. But every now and then I have to reply and your news today is thrilling! I knew that my insurance was fairly easy to work with yet I still found myself getting more and more worried that they wouldn't approve. So when you feel discouraged, hang in there, I'm sure your BMI qualifies you. I have heard nothing but good stuff about Dr. Scott, so I'm sure you're in good hands. Keep us posted! Blessings, Peggy

Hi Linda, You are at an exciting crossroad of your life.... I am so excited for you! I just had surgery myself with Dr. Scott on the 31st of May... Dr. Scott is a great man, and I really like him alot...I think he's the best thing since sliced bread... (can't eat that anymore but it's still good! hee hee) the only thing is he isnt a man of many words but his ACTIONS toward me spoke volumes... he really does care and wants to see the best for us after we take the WLS plunge, and even before. You havent gotten to meet some of his staff yet but they are really wonderful too... I just never have gotten anthing but wonderful postive support from them. It sounds like you probably won't have insurance issues but I do encourage you that if you do have difficulties is to talk with Natalie and/or her staff to see if they might have suggestions on how to proceed and challenge the insurance company. She just might have info to tip the decision in your favor... she is there to help.. not hinder your goals. I encourage you to keep doing happy dances when things are working and progressing...these positive steps are for you! I don't know about you but being so heavy made my outlook on life so so negative... Life for me for a long time has been one of this is a Colossal joke life is just there to make me sad and disappointed... but as the weight is coming off I see that there is a new horizon. There is life out there, and I just have to go get it! Really I'm a chicken, and change isnt something I count as good thing but I am liking this change.... I encourage you to keep doing happy dances when it looks bleak and you wonder if this is ever going to happen... It will... sometimes the "time" will be the agreviation point and you'll just be so tired of waiting for all of this to happen. The time will come and you'll have your surgery and things will speed up more than you'd like! Did that to me! Linda as you walk this journey remember that life has wonderful "breathless" moments waiting for you. There will be things that come accross your path that the beauty of it all just makes you breathless... You didnt see them there before but now you do... Joy and Hope gives you these wonderful moments and they are there for you to pick up and hold and grab on to... You are well worth these moments! I know you bring great joy and happiness to your friends and family even now, but when you are going through this process you will find more to be happy about! I promise.... Linda... I think you're doing just great... I'm envious over the Alaska cruise... I have always wanted to see Alaska... someday I just might get there! Looks like you'll be having your consult with Dr. Scott about the time I go in for my 1st month check up... might see you in the waiting room! Would love to talk with you if we hit on the same day...
