Anyone on the board ate here & what did you eat? I'm a year out & I haven't really tested my pouch yet, but next weekend I know I'm going to be tempted because I'm going to KC for the weekend & I love KC BBQ! I was wondering if anyone here has ate there & if you did what did you order? I'm thinking seriously about a delicious burnt end dinner or some succulent baby back pork ribs! I know I'm for even thinking about this & I'll probably from overstuffing my pouch or dumping....Please give me some ideas!

Hey Jer, Man am I jealous. I live in KC (actually Excelsior Springs) and one of the best BBQ places in the area is only a mile away and I haven't had a bite since surgery 5 months ago. At one year it shouldn't be a problem, but it depends on your individual system. At least that's what I've been told. If you ever get to the Northland out here you need to hop up to Excelsior Springs and try out the Wabash. The best BBQ you'll ever have (and I'm a bit of an expert on BBQ)!! Robert

I'm 8 1/2 months out and although I haven't eaten at a BBQ place, I have had 1/2 of a small BBQ beef sandwich. I'd say there are a couple of things you'll need to watch. One is how much sugar is in the BBQ sauce. You might ask for the BBQ sauce on the side. The other is the bread. I find I can eat a lot more meat if I'm not eating two pieces of bread with it. One piece or a half piece is about all I can do. Another piece of advice is to eat slooooow. And, don't fill up on apetizers. Seems like every place always brings out apetizers. Since I'm usually hungry I eat the apetizer and then can't eat but a bite of the meal. So, those are my pieces of advice. You really can enjoy a night out even if you take 3/4 of your meal home. Then, you can enjoy the meal for several more nights. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

BBQ is my favorite meal. I go to a place here called Bandana's. They have a childs portion of pulled pork I usually get w/ green beans and coleslaw. Its more than enough. Dont be afraid to ask to order childs or senior portions. 9 xs out of 10 the wait staff are very accomadating to your needs, you just have to ask and dont be afraid to tell them you had wls. Good luck on your BBQ adventure! Robb 337/215/195 PS: EAT IT VERY SLOW.
