want to have the lap band

Was wondering if there is anyone here who has had the lap band and was a self pay. If so would appreciate any and all information. I am considering Mexico, but my family is so against it. Thanks for your help

Hi My insurance covered mine but....Have you checked with Dr Wagners....I think he has a special rate for self pay...also you have to find out the cost of your fills...it may be cheaper in the long run to get it done in the states. Good Luck Tina

Janice I was self pay, and went to Dr. Spivak in Houston, TX. What I did was call all over the us--using oh site for references. I found several docs that had a great deal of experience PLUS low self pay costs. I now drive down to Nashville for my fills and things are going great! For me, it was worth the 3 grand difference to stay in the states--and it kept my mom off my back Good luck and feel free to email me with more questions! Jessica
