hiccups???????
I have a question for those of you that are post op, have any of you had re-occuring hiccups? I can't get rid of them, they come all the time, whether I am drinking my water slowly or whether I haven't had anything to drink in about an hour. I don't know what I am doing to keep causing them, but they are really frustrating. Can anyone give me some pointers so that I don't get them or else a remedy to get rid of them, its not like I can bend over and drink a glass of water upside down as my little sister says to try, I still haven't figured out how you keep from spilling the water.

I get these quite often and Dr. De Le Torre told me that after 3000 surgeries I was his 1st to mention it to him....I think he has a bad memory but, please do say something to him about your hiccups!!!
He did say for me not to worry about them and they are not WLS related at all. If they continue to bother you...call the office and talk to Nancy about them. I know they are frustrating and actually hurt every now and then..I think this is why I was getting concerned about them and said something about it.
Hope this helps,

I get them too!! And not only do they hurt sometimes... but they're LOUD!!! People at work (and my own husband!!) will sit there and just LAUGH at me 'cause they're so loud.
I'm convinced it's WLS related, 'cause I NEVER had hiccups like this before. MAYBE once in a blue moon, but not several times a week!!
I will say, they're less frequent now than they were when I was early post-op. They're still just as loud & violent... and I still get them about 2-3 times a week, but they don't last as long.
Sorry I don't have any remedies for you... just ride 'em out. Hopefully they'll get better for you.

Thanks Kelli and Cathy,
I am glad its not just me. I guess I just don't remember getting them before but I am thinking because I am just a week or so out and when I get them it hurts my chest then I am becoming more aware of them. Thanks for your help and I will call and talk to Nancy on Tuesday about them.

I used to get them constantly in the first few months out. Slowly it stopped in about the fourth month or so. It was especially bad for me because I have a job where I talk on the phone all day. Boy, what those customers must have thought about me..."Hi...hic...How are you?...hic....How...hic...can I...hic...help you?"
