Psych evaluation and insurance

Thought I'd also post this again at the front of the board. My insurance denied psych evaluation, but there is a Missouri law that requires payment for up to two visits a year for psychiatric evaluation or diagnosis, so they have to pay for this. I just sent a copy of the law to mine and they changed their tune pretty quickly, which was sweet because I specifically asked them before going to get mine if they would cover it (they were requiring it) and was told they would, and then they changed after it was submitted and denied twice. So it was nice to make them pay, as they have been total jerks through this whole process. I'm still not approved, but they did pay that. They also cannot restrict your choice of provider. If someone needs the actual law, let me know.

Hi, I didnt have a problem with my ins after I switched to the other plan they offered. I first tried with the HMO and they said basically I wasnt fat enough, my body hadnt crumbled enough etc. I switched to the CCP plan and everything went smoothly (So far). I did notice that what my inusrance paid and what the Pych billed were way different and that my Phych Dr wrote off over 400.00 of his bill~! What a guy~!. Just an FYI that if your having INS trouble and can switch plans give that a shot, or as you did appeal appeal appeal. Gevin RNY 6-1-05
