Well, I have a dr's appointment on Monday to discuss wls. I called my former doctor to ask her what she thought about it...and she's going to be writing me a letter to send in to the insurance. I am so nervous about all of this. I just have a feeling that they'll be denying me. *sighs* I don't do well with confrontation...please thank good thoughts for me. Also, I've seen some people on here mention that they've sent in "packets" to their insurance company. I have medicaid...what do I need to send in? I've called the "help" number in my information from the managed care company...but they've been less than helpful. Any information would be appreciated!! Thanks, Amanda

Just wanted to wish you luck . from my experience packets are from a program called new start . they handle the approval and send in all the packets . with medicaid however it is diffrent .My great friend has med. she just had surgery she was denied but took it to appeal and went to appeal and won . they almost deny everyone she said but if you stick to it and appeal 9 out of 10 win .. so hang tuff and remember dont be intimidated this is your life you are fighting for . i wasnt good at confrontation or fighting for me until it came to this life saving surgery . fight for you ... i think you just need to have your dr fax them the letter that they recommend you to have the surgery .. then contact them they will tell you what to do

Amanda, the packets come from the surgeon you choose. Good luck with everything! I have Medicaid and was approved in just 8 days after they received my packet, so it's a different experience for everyone!! Just hang in there and don't give up the fight!! Connie

Amanda, the other girls were right, you have to pick your Dr. that will take medicaid then they will send you the packet and you fill it out and send it back to them and then wait for them to tell you what to do next. I'm terrible with confrontation, but just take a deep breath and take one day at a time and things will work out. just remember to let the Dr. know about the med. cuts and when you will be cut so they can hurry things along. let us know how you do. if you get upset just come here cause these people are s ,SherryWhite
