I need direction, please...

I am just beginning this trip....I think I want the Lap Band...have not went to the MD yet...but I called the ins. co. BC/BS of Minn. and they tell me that there is a written exclusion in my policy on all Bariatric surgeries...Pleas tell me if I should look for another job, with different ins.....call an Md and check about an appeal. I just need good advice. Thanks. Ricia

Ricia, Don't give up without a fight. I'm just starting the journey too, so I don't have a lot of advice. I have been lurking and now posting on the boards for several weeks. I have seen a lot of good advice on the main OH message board. You might want to post your question there. There have been some postings of appeal letters that were especially useful. Good luck. Have you read the exclusion? Some will say it's excluded when it's not. I'd want to read the exact wording. Also you culd check with Gary Viscio - he's a member here - postop and a lawyer who helps battle the insurance companies. He can let you know if your case is worth fighting or not. Best of luck!
