Medicaid worries

I am wondering if anyone else is pre-op and really concerned about the Medicaid cuts? I realize that I just began the journey, but I am so worried that I will be off Medicaide before I have my surgery. I received a letter in the mail saying that I will get 6 more monthes, calling it transitional medicaid, then I am cut off. Anyone else being affected by this?

Kelly, I am on medicade too.I received a letter saying I will be cut July 1st.Theres nothing we can do.We can thank our wonderful Gov.Matt Blunt for all this,hes trying to save the state money.I am disabled too and have been for 5 years.Thank god I was able to have the surgury before this all happened. All I can say is try your very best to get the surgury before you get cut. Good Luck,Dawn

KELLY, I AM WAITING TO HAVE LAP BAND SURGERY. I PRAY TO GOD I GET IT BEFORE THEY ALSO TAKE AWAY MY MEDICAID. AS OF NOW I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING REQUARDING MY COVERAGE AND THE NEW CUTS.

Hi Kelly, I got my letter saying july 1st. and my stuff has been sent in to medicaid two weeks ago. I probably have lost out too and I have almost 7 months invested in this. it makes me sick!!! good luck to you, SherryWhite

Hi Everyone, Go****'s too early and I can't remember you're names. l-o Anyway, isn't this a shame? Having no warning and you have the carpet ripped out from underneath you! How on earth is a family of 5 supposed to get by on $388 just so they can come medical coverage? It's ridiculous. We have two incomes, but it's still low compared to today's poverty level. However, a person can't afford to pay monthly bills, buy groceries AND pay for family insurance. I heard that a HUGE amount of Americans, even those considered middle class-high class, do not have medical coverage. I wish I lived in Canada. I hear that there, all people are insured one way or another. That's cool. Well, that's my rant. I sure hope you get your lap-band before it's too late, I can't recall your name, sorry. Also, Sherry, I really hope you get yours SOON, July is just around the corner. Have you already gotten your doctor's approval, insurance approval, date, anything close? Take care all, Kelly

I do have Dr. Scott's approval as a candidate. everything is done on his part except the preop class. but I'm now waiting on medicaid approval it's been in their hands for 2 weeks now. I guess if I get approved, then i'll get a surgery date. I'm going to see if I can get on it for 6 more months, don't know but I'm not giveing up till it's over!!! OH friend, SherryWhite

Hi there Sherry, I'm sure glad Dr. Scott approved you! Now I wonder how long it's gonna take Medicaid to do their thing? I am wondering and worrying ALOT. Do you think that Medicaid would approve surgery if they know that I am only going to have it for 6 more months? Especially since there will be lots of follow-up presumably??? Hmmm... so much to think about. Well, I tell ya, I'm an optimistic person most of the time, but this whole thing has me STRESSED. Trying NOW to just low-carb for a while and stop thinking about it. I am TERRIBLE about going to the doctors to begin with, but with the required blood test, etc. we have to do to get surgery, I was left with no choice. NOW, I find out that I have hypertension and high cholesterol and triglycerides. Didn't wanna know that! LOL I felt perfectly fine. Oh, my hubby does know Mary White. His name is Jimmy Packham.
