Don't know who to beleive?
Hi Sherry
I am on medicaid also and have Dr. Scott for a Doc.... Can I be honest here? I didnt call Medicaid once, and I allowed Natalie and staff to do their job... It just takes alot of time... and patience isnt my virtue either. It's good that you are keeping up with the paperwork and stuff.... I am having surgery on the 31st of this month! (happy dance happy dance) I probably should have been more hands on, but truly Nat and company really do have it undercontrol. I know you like me want this surgery so badly and dont want it to be messed up and if we can help in the process we want to but you know with Medicaid it's just a hurry up and wait... Plus with all of the cutbacks it doesnt help on the patience or the fear of being cut before surgery.... BTW did you know that Natalie had WLS done also? I dont know if you met Natalie personally, but truly she is a wonderful person and she'll get you through all of this. I know in my case she did everything in her power to get me to surgery and viola I'll be there in 8 days... Well all of that to say is don't burden yourself with something that is out of your control.... take a breath, relax (yeah right!) and it will work out for you. If it can for me it will for you too... I'm nothing special. You are doing great! Keep loosing a bit of weight on your own you'll be better off when surgery does come! Take care dear and you're fine it's just the wait that's the killer!
Ardie
Ardie,
WOW! I just read your profile and you have really worked hard to be able to have this life saving surgery. I wish that I had half the drive that you do. My surgery is scheduled for the 31st also and at the university! Are you going to the thing on the 26th @ 9? I will be there. Who knows we may even end up as room mates.
Good luck!
Lesa
Hey Lesa,
How cool is that! No, I wont be there on the 26th I already did the meeting thing already... (last week Wednesday) It's really informational about what is supposed to happen after surgery. It will be a little overwhelming, but just bring the packet home and read it again. It really helped me to read it over again when I just sat there and went "Oh my gosh there's so much to remember"! You'll meet Natalie if you havent already she'll speak first then you'll hear from the dietician, and then Dr. Bumby will come in (she did at mine so I figure she'll be there for your too)and talk about the mental stuff... I dont know if you went to her for your psych eval, but she is a really great person you'll love her section of the info meeting. I know I did alot... she understands all about WLS she had it done herself. Then a trainer guy from a local gym comes in and talks about excersize, and then Dr. Scott comes in and does the "death" talk. I know why he says it that way because the surgery has it's risks... but sheesh if I didint have the surgery Im a dead woman anyways... Even at the 350 mark I am still very large to resusitate so I think the risk of surgery is lower than not having the surgery at all...
I think it would be pretty cool if we were roomies at the hospital... just to have someone in the other bed with the same surgery would be cool.... we'd have to go walk together down the halls, and terrorize the nurses! (Just kidding! ) Race ya! When are you supposed to be at the hospital? I gotta be there at 8:30am and 10:30am surgery time.
Lesa you have more drive and willpower than you realize..... when you get the surgery and are at home and start to excersize and the weight starts to come off it will energize you and empower you to do more... I know that in this time that I had to loose the 80lbs every pound was getting me closer to the goal. You have those wishes and those goals and you have more strength to make them happen. Dr. Scott is giving you the tools to make a healthier, happier you, and you take that tool and run with it girl! I expect to see pics of the woman that was locked up and couldnt get out ! (you know that "you sexy thing you pic! ) The support group that I go to in Springfield I have seen so many people benefit and get their lives back that it just motivates me to get there too. And it will for you too.
I hope we can meet at least while we're there in the hospital and encourage each other as we start this wonderful journey at the same time!
Take Care and I'll see you on the 31st!
Ardie
Ardie!! You'll be in my thoughts and prayers on the 31st. (Lesa, you will, too!! of course!!) I THOUGHT I was going to get my date yesterday. But instead I'm being sent to a cardiologist. Have to get cleared by him for the surgery because of something they saw in the report on my stress test.
I didn't know that Natalie has had the surgery. No wonder she seems to really understand our side of things!!!
Connie
Hey Connie,
Yup she did and so who better to fight for you with insurance and such! I have been so impressed with the University Hospital all through this process.
Hey Im sorry they found something on your stress test I hope it is nothing serious and you can get a date too! I will be praying for you that all of this can be placed behind you and you can get on with the rest of your life.... thinner, happier and healthier!
Take Care
Ardie
