Hello everybody, I have a personal question I was hoping you all could help me out with. Okay, before surgery, I only had a period when I would take birth control or progesterone. I stopped taking my birthcontrol a few months before surgery so I wouldnt be on my period during surgery or during recouperation. I never went back on birthcontrol after surgery. My doc asked back in January if I had started yet and I hadnt so he said to look out it should be coming pretty soon. It still hasnt started yet. I keep waiting for it and usually once a month I get some cramps and get the feeling I am going to start but it never does. So what should I do? Does anyone else have this problem? I go back to my doc next week and will definitly tell him about this. I dont want to go back on birthcontrol because I desperatly want a baby. I know I shouldnt get pregnant yet since I am only 7 months out, but I figure Im not going to get pregnant anyway since Im not having a period. Any ideas or suggestions. Thanks chas

I was on Depo-shot for years and I stoped the shot and didn't have a period for about a year and then one day I just didn't feel right and I took a test and I was 3 mo's along..now I have a 4 year old baby Boy (Gunner)so I'm here to tell you that if all is good you can get pregnant with out a period..Best Of Luck To You...I find now after surgery mine are not as bad as before..

I know losing weight can really mess with your system and cause you to not have a period. Take a pregnancy test just in case, but I would definately mention it to your doc.

Chas - have you taken a pregnancy test? I also agree, losing this much weight can mess up your body for a bit. I had a total hysterectomy 2 years ago, so I can't answer from personal experience on WLS and cycles; but it sure did kick up my menopause symptoms BIG TIME! So I know it does weird things to our bodies from that standpoint. Remember: estrogen is stored in our fat cells, so as we lose fat, that estrogen gets released into our systems. I'll be praying you get pregnant!!! Please keep us posted. Traci -93
