need a little ... something

I have been quite down lately with some of the things I have been eating and because I am supposed to be quitting smoking. I always come up with some hair-brained idea for a reason to need just 1 more cigarette. I did better today with only having 3 cigs, but I am still upset that I just cant throw them away!! I also seem to be coming up with reasons to eat things I shouldnt. "oh I will do better tomorrow" type thought comes to mind. Any advice on how to combat both the cig voice and the craving voice at once??

This is what I did when I quit smoking. I smoked my last cigarette on a Sunday night, so I woke up and went to work on Monday not smoking. You know.... kind of a "start the week out right" thing. I ALWAYS kept a few sugar free lollipops at hand so I had something to replace the cigarette. I figured that a cigarette was a lot like a lollipop, holding the stick and putting it to my mouth and getting something from it. Keep the lollipops with you all the time and when you find yourself reaching for a cigarette, have the lollipop instead. (it has to be a lollipop because holding the stick and putting it to your mouth is the important part.) Hope this helps you with the smoking. Surgery will help you with the cravings, but only worry about one thing at a time. If you try to do too much at one time, it makes it more likely that you'll end up disappointing yourself. Quit smoking first.... smokers have a MUCH harder time in surgery and after surgery from my understanding. Good luck! Marion 407/352/170

Sherry, Well, I wouldnt say that he gave me a time limit, but he wouldnt schedule it until I showed TRUE effort. I finally proved to him that I could do it, so now I am scheduled. Has he told you that you have to lose weight first? If you are over 350, then he will probably tell you to lose some first.
