Gallbladder?

I posted a few days ago about problems I've been having with a sharp pain in my left side and then explosive diarrhea. That happened 3 times last week. So, I was talking with a friend who had gallbladder surgery and she said that was the symptoms she was having. I'm also having back pain on either side of my spine about the middle section of my back. I'm wondering if that is gallbladder related. Of course, I have an appointment in 2 weeks with the doctor but I'm just wondering if anyone else who's had gallbladder problems went through anything similar. Thanks for any help you can give. Do you notice if it happens after eating high fat foods, like greasy foods, milk, red meat, etc? If so then it is more than likely your gall bladder. The best way to tell for sure is to have them do an ultrasound of your gall bladder. That is how they found mine. I didnt have diahrea from it, but I was pregnant and thought I was going into labor because the pain was so intense. Gall bladder pain is definitely the most intense pain I have ever had and I am glad its over. Once your gall bladder is out, you may still have bouts of diarrhea though. I would get checked out for gall stones.

Teresa - it very well could be your gallbladder. I had mine out in 1989, and it started out that only certain foods would make it hurt, then finally - anything and everything I ate caused me so much pain I could barely breath and I thought I was dying! I had pain more in the center of my chest, below my breastbone and in my upper back, between my shoulders. Generally, high fat foods trigger a reaction, but as a post-op, we don't really eat a high fat diet, so if you're having pain with everything you eat - please don't wait two weeks. Gallstones can block the bile duct and cause some serious problems. Traci

Maybe all it took was posting about it. The pains have gone away. Nothing in the last few days. Even the pain in my back has lessened. My bowels are beginning to get more regular with taking colace so maybe I just shouldn't eat bacon like several suggested. I've taken that advice seriously and stopped eating anything too fatty. I do think I dump on fatty stuff more than sugar. I have eaten some things that have a little sugar but very little fat and I have no problem with them. But anything that is high fat content throws me.
