This Pr-op high protein liquid diet (HELP)
I dont understand why it has to be for 2 weeks Im only on the 2nd day dont know what it is but the shakes im drinking dont taste good at all I am putting the jello away I dont have any ideal what to eat. I am lucky to get 2 of those shakes in. Can someone help me maybe there is some that taste better
It's my understanding that the 2 week pre-op liquid diet has a two-fold reason: 1. it helps to shrink the liver, which is often fatty/enlarged in obese folks and can make the surgery more difficult, as an enlarged liver gets in the way of the gastric bypass surgery 2. It helps you to lose some pre-op weight and gets the ball rolling toward weight loss and your immediate post-op diet.
I know many protein shakes are just plain awful!! I would suggest trying others. Isopure ready-to-drink protein drinks are really good.
There is a great protein drink you can buy online at www.unjury.com.
It taste good, mixes easy, smells good and does not leave any after taste.
You can get it in vanilla, chocolate or unflavored. They also have sample packages.
I use the unflavored a lot and mix it in crystal light drinks, you can not taste it, it just changes the color alittle.
Take care,
Brenda
It can be difficult the first couple days, but once you get past that it is much easier, and it is so worth it.
For my liquid protein I drank mostly Slim-Fast Low Carb ready to drink shakes. I tried different flavors. My favorites were the chocolate varieties and the vanilla wasn't bad either.
Make sure to get enough protein in. It really does make you feel better when you have the protein.
Sometimes in between the shakes if I felt a little hungry, I would drink some Crystal Light instead of water. It seemed to help take the edge off.
Good luck to you.
