I Just Don't Get It(NEW START)

Okay... so where is Dr. F, going? Why is he leaving the group? I've been away tooo long, I had not heard that he was leaving.. Sherrie

Sherrie, Dr Fabito is retiring in May and new start is not replacing him.

Well... This may not be a popular post, but I'm going to speak my mind anyway. WHY, Shelly, would you tell people NOT to go to New Start just because one of their doctors is retiring?? Someone new going to New Start is not going to be bothered by our surgeon retiring. They will get their own doctor that they choose, they get all the support and attention we got when we were starting out. New Start is, in my opinion, a WONDERFUL way to get yourself and your family prepared for surgery and post-op life. I can understand why you would be upset about Dr. Fabito retiring, but the letter that I got says "If you are not acquainted with another physician, I sugest that you contact the New Start Surgical Weight Loss Center.... for possible consultation and surgical care." That sounds to me like they are willing to help us out if we need a surgeon to see us, but since most of us don't need surgical follow-up, our PCP would be able to cover our follow-ups. If you aren't comfortable with seeing your PCP, I'd suggest getting a new one, but PLEASE don't discourage people from going through New Start. I think they are WONDERFUL and always more than willing to be there for whatever their patients need.

There are many reasons why I dont like New Start one is it took me 5 mo to get surgery and they was saying it was my insurance and it was not my insurance you don't need approval for surgery.and if you don't stay on them you will get lost in the paper work ...and as far as a letter WHAT LETTER I HAVE NOT GOT ONE YET...and if this is the case I will ask you like I asked her if we are to go to our surgeons 1mo 3 mo 6 mo and 12 then every year why can't we just go to our PCP at them times??I got no answer from them when I talked to her..and it's up to the person if you go to NS or not they kind of got us they got all the DR in St.Louis so really you don't have a choice but go to them...and when people ask me now who is good I tell them Dr.De La Torre..they was very nice there when I was going to chang to them when NS was taking there good old time..And as far as discourageing people like I said I can't do that because NS has all the Dr with them so if you want to go to St.Louis you have to go to NS..and I'm not up set about him retiring I just think we should have a NEW DR we can go to...I even asked new start for a new Dr she told me NO if I needed any thing just call them...she said if some thing was going to go on with us it would in the first 4 weeks if I was thinking I would of said tell that to my sister in law she is about 9 mo out and has been in ST.A about 55 days now from wls..I'm sure every thing will work out I was just a bit lost why it's such a big thing to go to our Dr every 3 mo and then a year and now it's not??Hope you have a great week.. ARE YOU EVER HAPPY? YOU SHOULD BE SO THANKFUL THAT YOU GOT YOUR SURGERY AND BE HAPPY WITH THE WONDERFUL DR. YOU HAD. SOME OF US ARE NOT SO LUCKY TO HAVE HAD INSURANCE PLANS THAT WOULD COVER WLS. I'm not having problems about him retiring IM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH US NOT HAVING A DR..AND SOME TIME ALL MY *****ING IS TO GET THE BOARD GOING...IF YOU DONT LIKE MY COMPLAINING DONT READ ANY THING FROM SHELLY D..IM ALWAYS HAPPY THANKS FOR ASKING..AND I AM VERY THINKFULL THAT FABITO DID MY SURGERY THAT IS WHY I PICKED HIM HE IS THE BEST IN WHAT HE DOES...AND EVERYONE AT THE SEX BEFORE AND AFTER WLS FORUM WAS RIGHT ALL THE BOARD JUST HAVE TO SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT EACH OTHER AND GET IT ALL GOING I WILL NOT POST HERE ANY MORE SO YOU DONT HAVE TO READ MY WHINING UNHAPPY POST AS YOU THINK... I GUESS I AM ALSO VERY LET DOWN AS I HAVE TRIED FOR ALMOST A YEAR TO GET MY INSURANCE TO PAY FOR MY SURGERY AND THEY WILL NOT. AGAIN I AM SORRY IF YOU TOOK MY POST THE WRONG WAY!
