I need help...friends...counseling. I'm ruining my WLS.

I am 17 months post-op, gastric bypass. Staring weight: 353 lbs. Lowest post-op weight: 227 lbs. Current weight: 249 lbs. Haven't lost a pound in the last 12 months. Emotional issues pushed me over the edge into constant grazing.  Lost my job, been rejected for over 9 others in last 12 months, hubby got cancer, my dog died, house is falling down around us and no $$ to fix it...lotsa struggles, no outlet other than eating to comfort myself.

I don't have many friends. I need WLS friends I can talk to.

Anybody out there?

I am sorry things have been so hard for you. I am in MO also but in Jeff Co. I am here if you want to talk. I could tell you all the stuff you already know about what you should be doing but you know all that. You know that over eating will only make your life and health worse. You are going through so much you need emotional support so if I can offer that I am here.

You're so not alone in this!
We are under serious financial stress as well. I know where you are coming from.
Sorry to hear about your DH's diagnosis, and of course the loss of your dog.  That is a lot all at once.

We have had some really tough days in the last few months, but I do have a great friend who said, "lets take a walk..." we didn't get too far, and I think one of the days I actually cried and walked,  it just helped to get the emotions out. Now that the weather is better (at least for today~ damn Missouri) get outside, get some natural Vitamin D and let those emotions and endorphins out and let the strong woman you are come out, I know your strong you had WLS!

You know what to do in the food dept.  Eat like you did the first two weeks home from surgery, and begin again.  You have a great tool to help you, consider this a stall and start today.  Clear your home of any food you can afford to live without.

As far as the job goes, I was let go and unemployed for 15 months with no unemployment (I worked for a Non-profit in MO and they don't have to pay unemployment grrrrr) I had to take 2 jobs, and currently I still have both of those, however one has now moved into full time.  There is something out there for you, keep looking.  I know its hard. but there is a job out there for you we just need to find it.

You have kept off over 100 pounds~ and that is wonderful!
Begin again today! You can do this!

not sure where Washington Mo is but is there a support group somewhere around you close , get to a meeting you will be surprised how much that helps...

you have gotten some great advice from the two girls before me...keep coming on here and im sure you will find someone on here that  will click with your to help you thru some of this....sometimes we wonder where the phrase comes from that God wont give us more to handle than we can handle but reme, ber that if God brings us to a place he will also lead us out of it.

like they said you do know what you have to do and breaking the grazinjg habit is really hard...get rid of anything that is easy to eat or grab and eats....dont have them around ...make all the food you have be stuff that you have to stop and make a meal out of it. ...we are here for you in anyway we can be

I feel sympathy for you and know it seems so horrible right now but my ex-MIL told me once to remember that in five years you'll wonder why you were so worried - and you know what - she was right. Things have a way of working out, no matter how bad they are at the time. I will be praying for you.

"WLS is about making better choices, a healthier lifestyle and seeing how little you can eat.  Portion control is the key to all weight loss surgeries.  Bottom line - it isn't how much you can eat - it is how little you can eat."

Call this doctor and ask to talk to the person that does the support meetings.  Last I heard they were going to holding them as far down as St. Claire.  It will be great for you and you will be able to meet real people who can relate to the same problems that you are having.  In the meantime, like someone said above. Stop and start all over just like at the beginning. Liquid protein, water, 64 oz.  sip, sip, sip. no grazing, nothing else.  Slowly add in what ever your doctor had you add in next, baby steps.  Watch those portions.  If your doctor said no soda, then no soda.

You can do this!  You are a very strong person! Look how far you have come and with some work you can get right back on track.

Everyone of us has problems, thats why we needed to have the surgery to begin with. You have to look for any small positives in your life. Money won't stop your problems. Just know we understand and want to help if we can.  I will say a prayer for you.
