I know everyone is praying for her and Randy.  I'm devistated by this latest post of a brain infection.  I did go see her last Friday.  Randy was there and Brenda was awake.  She knew who I was and I could tell she was pissed.  She's a spitfire, that one.  She kept pointing to her stomache, like she was saying can you believe this?  NO I can't!  I talked to her two days prior to this happening, it was sudden.  I hope and pray for her complete healing and comfort for her family.   Thanks for keeping them in your prayers, I know they appreciate it very much.

We talked at our meeting on the 11th about how this is a known post-surgical complication that can happen. You can Google Bariatric Surgery Internal Hernia and read about it. I had never heard of it happening to anyone and was surprised. I am so concerned for Brenda and her family. I know many are praying for her and am thankful for that.

"WLS is about making better choices, a healthier lifestyle and seeing how little you can eat.  Portion control is the key to all weight loss surgeries.  Bottom line - it isn't how much you can eat - it is how little you can eat."

Lou & Lana,

I'm sorry to hear that Brenda is now battling a brain infection!  I know Barbara S. on the board suffered from the same thing that Brenda did a few years ago.

I had an internal hernia about a year after my rny.  However, Dr. H was able to fix it within about 20 minutes and I went home the next day.  Barbara - maybe you can explain to us what the difference in the internal hernia I had and the one(s) that you and Brenda had.  I know you told me that it was a very serious condition.

Will keep praying for Brenda and her family.  Thanks, Lou for updating us.

I wondered if this was a complication from RNY but it seems kinda far out for this to happen. I had a intestinal issue from scar tissue about a year out and believe me it was painful but easily fixed. My heart goes out to Brenda and I pray she recovers quickly. If you see her give her and her family my love.If there is anything we can do to help let us know.

When I used to help do RNY we had to make sure the area in question was stitched closed really well.  But even then when people loose alot of weight spaces can form.  I had this happen to a friend that was 10 years out.  Cought early she did well.  I'm terriably sad that this has happened and if my prayers could heal Brenda she would have ran out of that hospital weeks ago.  Her and her family are on my mind continually.
