Hello mo.  I am 6 years post op and am now dealing with iron and B12 deficiant.  I am taking iron infusions.  I haven't had my B12 shot since Nov. and that is stupid on my part.  I need to give them to myself and I have no problem with that.  Everyone tells me that I have to wait until someone can show me because it is harder to give them intra muscular.  I have my B12 and I have my syringes just sitting there.  I have seen the nurses give them to me for years and I know I could give it to myself but am afraid I might do it wrong.  Any advice?--Penni

Penni,

My PCP's nurse showed me how to give myself the B12 injections.  I went in the first couple of times and watched her give them to me then the next couple if times, she watched me as I gave them to myself.  I think that would be the best way to do it.  It really is no big deal once you get use to doing it.  I give myself B12 injections every other week.  The once a month didn't help me as much as the twice monthly do.

Glad you're getting back on track!

yeah Penni go for it ...nothing to it. I give them to myself in my large thigh muscle....bruises sometimes but oh well. doesnt hurt ....just do it. if you are deficient you need to get started.

I give mine in the hip but worry about its effectiveness due to all the lose skin there. Jan, where on the thigh do you give yours exactly and Debbie where do you give yours?

Love you all
