Martin Luther King Jr. day .....such a great man. was such a shame that he was shot. he was doing such great work. I guess that is the way we sort of can judge people and if they are doing good works or not.....but seems like a big price to pay , to be shot if you are good.  doesnt give others much of an incentive does it ?

looks like they are forcasting snow later this week. yuck hope we dont get anymore than we got last time.
tomorrow am going to be meeting one of the girls from work for lunch....have to call today about some stuff so i had better get busy .....then one of the girls from work i promised her a pumpkin roll before Christmas and i never got it to her. she called me on it lol so guess i better get busy...
since im going into town tomorrow will take it to her then .

talk to you all later...got a gillion things i have to do.

Good afternoon Jan and MO peeps.  Not much happening here today.  Cody has been with his grandma all weekend and will be home later this afternoon.  Today is cleaning day around here.  I'm still sticking with program and am very proud of myself.  I agree about the snow, especially since they are calling for it on Thursday and I rescheduled my mammogram for Friday.  Thankfully our roommate is letting me borrow her car so I won't have to take the bus.  Hope everyone is having a great day.  I better get to cleaning since the house doesn't seem to be cleaning itself, lol.

No painting today.  Talked myself out of it.  I did clean the floor and woodwork and I'm planning on painting Saturday.

We went to look at the retirement apartments and loved them.  They are all one floor with an outside entrance.  All utilities are paid except phone and cable.  We have set March 15th as move in date.  Now I have to get busy downsizing.  Ugh.....moving.  What a pain!!

I have a dental appointment for teeth cleaning and to talk about a bridge.  Hope my dental insurance pays for the bridge.  I'm not paying a fortune for one.

It's a cloudy, ugly day.  It was raining earlier.  Temps are just right for rain then freezing if it gets colder.

I have Swiss Steak cooking in the slow cooker.  Smells wonderful!!

Hi, Mama Jan & Mo Peeps:

I actually signed up for a class with JCCC.  I'm taking Microsoft Office 2010 so I can update my skills.  The class starts this Thursday!  I'm a little nervous and excited at the same time!

I've been busy trying to get ready.  David and I finally got our walk in closet cleaned and organized.  I cleaned our master bath as well.

Now I'm concentrating on my office.  Cleaned off my desk and organized the shelf and drawers.  Still have the late rial filing cabinet as well as bookshelf.  Hope to get those done Wednesday.  I bought 2 great big plastic containers.  Have a lot of paperwork that needs to be burned or professionally shredded.  I shredded so much today that my shredder actually smelt like it was on fire earlier.  I told David that I really could use a professional shredder! lol!  Sad but true!  We have friends that live out in the country and burn their trash on a regular basis.  I'm going to ask him if he would burn the papers I need burned.  If he can't do it then I'm going to see how much one of those professional shredder companies would charge me if I can the papers to them.  Of course, I would wan!t to see them actually shredding them!  Have a lot of personal information I don't want anyone getting ahold of!  If anyone of you know of such a company please let me know.

I'm heading to Sedalia tomorrow for my annual office visit with Dr. H.  All my blood work came back great, even my choloestrol!  My LDL was 147 and they want it 70 or below so that wasn't too good, however, considering I haven't been on any choloestrol meds since Sept, it' pretty good!  Of course, it's time to see my cardiologist and have that expensive once a year test I need.  Will try and get that done sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Well, dinner is ready.  Made grilled kc strip steaks, baked potatoes and steamed corn.  Gotta run.

Mama Jan - I'm excited for your trip!  Please be safe out there!  I wish I could make it to the COF mtg the end of this month but that probably won't happen.  Been too long since I've seen or hugged you!

Jo - would love to have your Swiss steak crock pot recipe.  Would you mind posting it?

MO Peeps - hope everyone is having a great week.  Be careful out there!

proud of you for starting back to school for some courses...that is great.

cant help you with the shredder , we burn all of our papers.......i bought one of those little ones and it burnt up the first bunch of papers i put thru lol took it back and got my money back told them that if i were going to burn the papers i would prefer it not be in the house from the shredder lol

Debbie, the Swiss Steak recipe went in the trash.  It tasted fine and was very tender, but didn't look so good.  I put carrots and onions in the bottom of the cooker then added the steak and topped it with a can of Progresso mushroom soup and a can of tomato sauce.  The tomato sauce gave it an off color.

I love looking at recipes and thinking how I can make them healthy.  So many I print from the emails aren't very good so I need to quit printing them.  I have a ton of cookbooks.

A favorite cookbook of mine is Eat What You Love by Marlene Koch.  They are healthy and have the nutritional info.

We are tentatively set up to move in mid March.  With these types of places, you have to take them when they're available.  The thought of moving makes me tired.  We have a lot of stuff to get rid of.  We may rent a storage facility to put all the stuff we want to sell.  He has a ton of lawn equipment and that's not a hot item right now.  I will go thru my fabric and put some of that on Craig's List.  I'm just not into making clothes.  I'd rather make quilts and maybe do some baby clothes for Newborns In Need.

As I tole Debbie, the Swiss Steak wasn't that great.
