Day 1 of Back On Track Down
Well, I am checking in to let you all know that so far I am back on track. I know it's only one day but I figure this is one day at a time, right? I kept an accurate food log of everything that went in my mouth. For me that is a real hard one. I tend to lie to myself and not write things down like if I don't write them down I didn't eat them. But today I was completely honest. I realized I'm not getting enough protein so I went out and got some protein bars and protein powder. I also exercised today. Grant it, it was only cleaning house but burned calories are burned calories in my book. So day one is complete. Bring on day two!!!

Dee you can do it !!!yea!!! for day one.....You bet you can do it. Keep up the good work. Yep it is important that we get in enough protein....if you dont you cant burn off calories. ....i still use at least one protein drink daily and sometimes two....but i always have my morning protein in my coffee and then later in the day if i havent eaten enough food i have a protein smoothy....usually strawberry. that is ny favorite. ....dont eat too many of the protein bars since they have a lot of calories and not a lot of protein but some or a lot better than others about it.

Dee, congrats on getting back on track...I have adopted a "mantra" if you will--"1 day at a time, 1 hour at a time, 1 minute at a time, 1 MOMENT at a time". Sometimes, that moment is the most I can do, but eventually, they add up to days, weeks, months! I'm proud of you...it's hard to get back on track. I'm trying to do the same myself!
Jan--I see you use protein in your coffee!! What kind and where can I get some?!!? I have yet to find something that tolerates the hot drinks and tastes good....would love some tips!
As for protein snacks, sometimes, I just eat plain old peanut butter...solves a lot of my craves, it's dense, so it doesn't take much, but a tablespoon takes a few minutes for me to get down and it has about 7 grams of protein in it...better than a snickers mini! well...sort of....;-)

Julia i use the protein powder from Wal mart and i use the ho****er out of the tap and stir and stir it up just enough to make a thick paste at this time i add splenda if you want it. then add hot coffee and stir it as you put it in and i never have a problem with it....I use choc protein sometimes or use a packtet of sugar free hot choc mix in it too. or use vanilla protein powder....i have added cinn and vanilla flavoring ....there are several things ...i have added walnut flavoring or pecan flavoring lots of different things. even honey for different taste. ....you cant just add the hot coffee right on top of the powder you have to stir it up with ho****er out of the faucet first. .....

Thanks ladies. I'm pretty proud of myself. I have made it through day 2 and it went just as well as day 1. I agree that some days it's moment to moment. But with all of your support and encouragement I know I will do this. I even have Cody in on it. He is going to start walking with me every day after school. Don't worry about my protein bars Jan. I have a really good one that is extremely low on sugar and fat and calories but I like the taste. Not everyone does but every one has individual tastes, especially after this surgery. I use the PURE Protein bars. I love the chocolate chip one and the chocolate peanut butter one. Last night I had a chocolate deluxe and it was heaven. I use it late in the evening when Michael and Cody are having a dessert that I'm chosing not to eat. Btw, I have made my food log public to help keep myself accountable.
