We were spared the damage from the storms yesterday. My heart goes out to all those who lost a loved one or their homes. Because it was a holiday a lot of people on the fort were away with family so injuries were were less than they would have been.
I agree Jan ,if I could get my money out of my house I would leave in a heart beat. But with real estate being what it is I would have to take a loss so I have to wait. I just can't afford to lose that much. I think 2012 will be my year to try. I hope values will come back up some.

I hope everyone has a wonderful new year and does something special for today . 1-1-11 should be remembered.

Susie yeah we had no wind or hail damage here it did rain like pouring it out of a boot and the wind was wild for awhile but all was ok....

we are going to have my brother auction it all off when and if we decide. want to wait till spring when everything is beautiful.
of course we will sit our bottom dollar but will have to have enough to build or buy house and still have a nest egg in the bank....
at least werent house poor like some poor people .....we bought very very low and fixed it all up to where  it is apraisewd at way above what our bottom dollar will be....

have to go eat some hog jowl and black eyed peas before going to work.....got to make for good luck for this coming year.

Happy New Year!!

Jan, I wouldn't mind working today if I got double pay.  Good deal for you.  I've never really minded cold weather until the last couple of years and I hate it.  Yesterday started out rather balmy but by mid-day it turned very cold and the wind was awful.  Fortunately, the weather people were way off as they are most of the time.

How sad for those in the storm area yesterday.  The weather all over the country is strange.

We went to Ruby Tuesdays because we had a coupon for a free meal.  The have the best salad bar and I went there very hungry so I got the salad bar and a meal.  I was feeling full just eating the salad.  I ordered ribs with sauce on the side, baked potato and mashed cauliflower.  The ribs weren't fatty at all.  Ribs always jump off the menu at me.  I love them and never fix them at home.  I ate a couple bites of potato and cauliflower and 2 ribs and couldn't eat any more.  So I have a meal for another day.

Max's knee is really hurting so he didn't go the hockey game.  He went to bed early and I stayed up watching TV and playing Solitaire on the Kindle.  Didn't make it to midnight though.  A lot of people in my area were shooting off fireworks and guns.  Really hate the guns.  You don't know where those bullets might land.

Today, I'm going to clean out the kitchen cabinets.  Don't know why but it's something I always do on New Year's Day.

Jo your cleaning cabinets on new years day is sort of like a new beginning.
Joe and i have that scheduled to sta rt on Wednesday.....having three piles of stuff , keep , sell and give away...most of the keep stuffwill be packed away in boxes with bubble wrap for moving when we do..
we have really been conversing via internet with this guy in Ecuador about his property there. It is on a bluff overlooking the Pacific ocean ....has acreage and over 40 fruit trees. the house on the property isnt much but is liveable until we built a new one. or had it built. you can build over there for 35.00 sq ft. so a 1000 sq ft house would be 35,000.00... not bad at all. but just dont know it is sort of isolated from what  i  can tell . we will see when we get there ....we have 5 different places in different areas temp. scheduled to see .....from a penthouse apartment that is brand new for 78,000.00 to a avacoda farm for 124,000.00 and the other two are in between.....just should be fun doing these things plus we have a zip line trip in the amazon jungle set up for one day.....Joe has a fishing trip scheduled on the river one day...and i have 3 coupons for spa days while there lol ....we are going to be busy but it should all be fun ....i will have my lap top with me and hope to do a thing on here and facebook with pictures about where and what we did that day.
if we ever get out of here that is. ....

Jan, your trip sounds like so much fun.  You will love the fruit tree place and the view would be great.  Enjoy those spa days.  I need that!!

My cabinets are so neat now.  I tossed out a bunch of stuff like Grape-Nuts cereal I've had for years.  I'm never going to eat them.  There were aged Cheerios and shredded wheat.  I tossed out the jar of fake peanut butter powder.  Some people love it but I don't.  I want the real thing.  Everything like soy and almond flour, Splenda, etc., is in Lock & Lock containers and labeled.

I got 4 movies from Red Box and have watched 2 on my little portable DVD player.  Neither one was very good.  Run the Distance with Drew Barrymore sounded good but the language was awful.

I just reopened my Facebook account.  Still not sure I really want to mess with it.
