Hi, Mama Jan & MO Peeps:

Well, despite the mess with my husband's paycheck that happened last Friday, we ended up having a really great weekend.  Didn't make it to Jamesport but spent some much needed time together talking and praying about our lives.  David went into work yesterday dressed in nice jeans and a nice shirt...not his usual bib overhauls.  They were surprised.  He told them he came in to get his month's pay they owed him.  Well, within an hour or so they brought him two checks which made up for the one for 2 weeks ago that was just returned Friday and then the one for these past two weeks.  They actually gave him a couple hundred more so that was more than enough to get all of our stuff out of the pawn shop.  We went directly to their bank and cashed the checks.  They had already talked David into coming back to work for them.  I told him that it was his decision to make but first we needed to make sure that these two checks were good!  They were!

While at the pawn shop getting our stuff back, I came upon a Dell Inspiron 14 baby blue lap top computer with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 7 on it.  They were asking $325.  Well, I've been having problems with my PC which has Vista and is almost 4 years old.  I had been thinking about getting a laptop, just knew we couldn't afford one right now.  Plus I like to do my homework before I buy something like a computer.  However, I knew Dell has a really good reputation.  So I took 3 of my rings I NEVER wear and sold them to the pawn shop.  They gave me $175 for the rings.  Then David told them he'd give them $150 for the computer along with the rings...it was a done deal.  I have 7 days to return it if I find anything wrong with it.  So far it's working like a dream.  It hooked right up to my wireless router and it's wonderful!  Plus I did some research when we got home and this model is running around $750 used on Amazon!  So I'd say the Lord blessed us with a great deal!  Would have really liked the pink one but the pearled baby blue is pretty too.  It also has a built in web camera and microphone!  I'm  lovin' it!  All in all it cost us about the same amount we would have paid for one night at the  B&B in Jamesport.

David and I enjoyed a nice lunch out and then enjoyed our couple's bible study last night.  Two of the wife's were sick.  Sandy was sick but her hubby made me a birthday cake!  Plus Susan baked home made chocolate chip cookies for me.  The whole group even sang "Happy Birthday" to me!  I am still so humbled as how GREAT OUR GOD IS AND HOW GOOD HE IS!!
David and I are doing well and our marriage is stronger than ever.  We have a wonderful church family - who immediately upon hearing what happened with his paycheck offered to help us financially. Thankfully, we didn't need it.  But you know we are suppose to help each other....if the churches would do more of that then there wouldn't be so much need for welfare, medicaid and food stamps.  Anyways, while this small group of believers were singing to me last night, God reminded me that HE LOVES ME and I am a child of THE KING!  What a blessing that is!

Mama Jan - It's hard to believe you're still in your pj's at 11:30am!  Now that would be pretty much normal for me!  lol!  I hope you enjoy your 5 days off and that you get some REST!!

MO Peeps - Come out, come out, wherever you are!  We've missed you!!  I'm trying to post more often as well!

Hope everyone has a GREAT day!  Love to you all!

I know you will love your laptop once you get use to it...the hardest  thing about it was getting use to not having a seperate mouse. but like i said once you get use to it .......

God surely does bless us when we keep our trust and faith in him doesnt he? it is amazing how wonderful he is to us. ....I agree with you about the churches and taking care of the people in the community....even the ones that dont go to their church....instead of worring about spending money on new seat cushions for the pews or building a big huge building that is the biggest and best in the town. ....sometimes some churches pratice greed instead of compassion....
so sorry to say i have been members of some that were like that. ....

Jan, enjoy your 5 days off.  I'm off all next week!!  I'm putting retiring on the back burner for now.  When I figured what my income would be just on SS and a couple small pensions, and compared it to my salary I decided I don't mind working that much.  I do like my job and I have great benefits, particularly the health insurance.  With all my husband's medical issues, the insurance comes in handy.  Max also has Medicare.  As long as I'm in good health I might as well be working.  There's no money in staying home reading, quilting and knitting.

I'm working on my recipe collection, taking my personal collection out of binders and putting on 5x7 cards.  I'm weeding out a lot of them.  Some are so high calorie and I'll never make them.  I prefer healthy foods all the time.  Anything calling for sugar that I'm going to eat is replaced with Splenda.  If I'm giving the food to someone that doesn'****ch their weight, I use sugar.

Max got a bunch of bulbs in the mail.  He didn't realize when he was ordering how many he was getting.  Now he has to plant all of them.  I would help, but my schedule is way too busy. :)

Jo , retiring is a matter of learning to live on a lot less than what you are use to ...it sometimes looks like it is impossible but the trick is to get everything paid off so you dont have any expenses except housing , utitiles and food...the rest is all gravy lol

you know on making things for others i use splenda and they never know the difference lol ...

Tell Max that he has a long time to get the bulbs all planted...except for the ground freezing lol...i have planted them in early march and they will come up after everyone elses and still bloom ....sort of nice to have them blooming later too tho...

Good Evening OH,

Well got home at about 2:00 am, was so tired and stressed on top of it. Our family member had passed on the 11th and my DH also passed on the 11th, then the services both on the 15th and it kind of hit me hard. I know I have to keep going, but will probably have hard moments for a long time to come.

Am having DOT physical in the morning, then should start school next Monday.

Am really still tired, after driving to Evansville Indiana on Thursday to pick up my son and then spending the week end in KC it took it's toll. Plan on sitting in the bedroom tonight and watching TV, need to catch up on the DVR recordings.

Jan~Somedays it is just the greatest thing to stay in PJs. Especially on rainy dreary days like this. I haven't even begun to think about Christmas, if I go to work right away will probably be on the road. May have to do Christmas by mail this year.

Debbie D~Am happy to hear things turned out well for you and David. Congrats on getting the deal on the lap top. I have been a dell fan for a few years. Love my PC, but love my new laptop better. Does your new one have windows 7?

Jo~I feel the same about retiring, I don't get enough from SSD to just pay the bills and am still healthy enough to work, so I intend to wor****il I have to retire.

Putting all your recipes on cards can be quite a job, I did that years ago and still have them in my little card file. Actually used some of the recipes occaisionally, might see if my DD or DILs might want them. Need to clean my clutter down in my kitchen anyway.

Need to get this posted and go to the bedroom and just kick back and relax, need to be well rested and ready to go in the morning.

Love You all, will see everybody Friday night.

HUGS

Jeanie,

I'm glad you're home safe and sound.  Sorry we couldn't get together this weekend.  Let me know the next time your in KC, maybe all of us will be able to get together then.

So far I LOVE my "new" Dell Laptop and yes it has Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2007!  It even has a built in web camera!  The Lord really blessed me with being able to find such a good deal too!

Hope you enjoyed your evening watching your dvr movies.  It was 2 or 3 years before I started using our dvr but once I did, I found I LOVED it because I can watch them anytime I want too.  Plus you can fast forward thru the commercials so the shows don't take as long to watch!  lol!

Goota scoot...am sooo tired!
