Hi everyone,

Up until today I had been going throught the process with NewStart, but I think I would like to change to the Weight Loss Insititue at DePaul.  Anyone with any pros/cons?  Any pros/cons for either Dr. Scott or Morales?  I am thinking about Dr. Scott.  Please be honest.  I want to make the right choice.  Thanks so much.

Melissa,
Don't want you to think you are being ignored but I don't have any info on St. Louis surgeons. I have heard Dr. Scott's name lots of times and haven't heard anything negative about him.
Welcome to the MO board. A great group of people who have seen it all.
Hugs,
Lana

Hi Melissa,

I used Dr. Scott at DePaul a little over 2 years ago for my gastric by-pass.  He is a great doctor, and was very attentive to me.  I did go in with some major medical problems and was placed in ICU as a precautionary.  Thankfully I didn't have any real problems from the surgery and was able to come home in a timely manner.

At my 2 year check up a few months back I had lost more than I weigh and Dr. Scott was very pleased with me.  I am below goal and trying to maintain.

I can't say enough good things about the DePaul hospital, their staff, Dr. Scott or his staff.  I do not know anything about Dr. Morales, but he must be pretty good, or he wouldn't be working with Dr. Scott.

If you have any other questions ask away.

Jackie

I wish you loads of luck.  Keep us updated on how it's going.  I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Scott real quick two years ago. My surgery was then completed about a month later.  It went really fast for me!  I was Medicare at the time with supplemental insurance.

Just saw your post this am and I am rsponding with a gret big Yesssss.  I am having surgery on 10/18 VSG with Dr Scott.  I had my initial LONG interview with Dr Morales and real talker and knows his business, He is a engineer and Physician / Surgeon. Did his fellowship with Dr De Latorre and Dr Scott at De Paul and I think University of MO at Columbia where Dr De Latorres is the Director of Surgery now. The DePaul office is a well oiled machine getting all things done in a timely fashion. Liola Davis does pre auth sceduling, Julie is Financial Director.  Theresa Certified Bariatric Nurse - all get back to  you Fast if there phone is busy.  Office number 344 6800.  Got the info seminar they all will talk to you and give you a hand out packet with further infor. PS they have an office at SSM St Clare Hosp in Fenton and through the grapevine I heard they will start doing surgerythere next year as well and De Paul.
God Bless your decision.  Maja

I had my surgery at DePaul. I had DeLa Torre before he left but Dr Morales did most of my post op stuff anyway! He was the one that came by in the hospital to see me! He is great! Very compassionate. I have heard excellent things about Dr Scott too. He did my gallbladder removal a few months ago.
Good luck with what you decide. You will be in great hands with either one!
PS I am not over keen on the hospital. I had a bad experience there in my immediate post op care but I think it was because it was New Years?!

I had Lap RNY by Dr. Scott this past Tuesday, Oct. 13. The entire process could not have gone any better. I had no real pain, a little discomfort perhaps due to gas. Was up walking as soon as the nurse told me I could. The DePaul Hospital staff are outstanding, never a problem. I was released Thursday of this week and I feel great other than a little overall lack of energy.

I hope you have the same experience I have had with my surgery.
