Hello girls --
Just wanted to let you all know that I lived , and you all were right I did not have that much to be afraid of, I felt really good I had surgury on friday morning and was back up with my family about 12:30pm I would have to say the only trouble that I had was friday night my IV stopped working I guess and my hand swelled up and three or four nurses and seven bruised holes in arms later ,they called in the on-call surgeon and I had to have a central line put in , wow that was not fun LOL But I got out at 2pm made it to my nephews birthday party only one hour late was a little sore but I made it . Sunday got up and went to church and then to my fathers to visit with my grandparents before they went back to Iowa , they came for the surgury now am only taking the pain medicine twice a day, drinking protien , water , juice and sugar free popcicles . Just can not wait til I fill up to doing more . It is kinda nice husband flipped and is just being wonderful , will not let me do anything. The way he had been acting the last week and had me so stressed out was his way of dealing with his fear of losing me . He was scared to lose the one he loves . Well can not wait to get to eat something that tastes good and has substance LOL Thank you all for your support I has greatly helped and was needed !!

Glad to hear it. It only gets better when you watch the pounds melt away. I know as they melted I felt better and better. Keep the fluids going in as well as protein and you are gonna be amazed.

I gained about 20 pounds of fluid right after the surgery. It will come off. When it starts it should be pretty steady. There will be stalls so keep that in mind. My first was at four weeks and it lasted four weeks. I was fit to be tied. I thought here I went and had surgery and I am not even losing. I kinda lost slower than some others who had surgery around the same time. I made it to goal and then some .

Well, I am only a week ahead of you (9/3)and i can tell I gained water weight.  I am not sure how much, but when I went in for my 1 week check up I had not lost any weight.  I am disappointed, but not devastated.  Since I do not have a scale yet I am not sure how much I lost yet, but I know my legs are still full, but my clothes feel looser.  I weigh again at the oncologist's on Friday.  that should tell me more about where I am at 2 weeks.

I have been having a kinda hard time with stage 2 foods, more vomiting, eating too fast and too large bites, but it is getting better each day so hopefully I begin losing faster as I heal.

Thanks

Starting wt. March/ 2010  385lbs
Surgery wt.  Sept/2010     322lbs
Current wt.  Sept/2013     204lbs

Glad you lived to tell the story!!  I wasn't able to be near as active as you after surgery.  I gain "17" pounds in the hospital!!!  And it didn't come off slow either.  Put me in a depressive mood the first several weeks. I continued to be a slow loser and I'm still losing 2+ years out, but trying to maintain.

I also had a lot of gas, but found walking as much as possible helped with that.

Welcome to the losers bench!

congradulations girl. so glad you did well.....the more you weight the faster the weight will come off if you will walk at least 30 mins. a day....get in all your protein and water ....the less you need to lose the slower \a person loses. but that is ok ....and 2 pounds a week isnt bad ...when have you ever lost that amount for a long extended time.

you will soon have so much energy you wont know what to do with yourself.....i can barely sit still for longer than just a few minutes any more.

support after surgery is as important as before...so keep us in the loop....ol
