Good morning all....hot already out there so be careful about how much you work or do anything outside.
I sure wi**** woudl cool down and stay there. There is so much i really need to get done outside. I wont know where to start when it does cool down. everything is drying up even if you water things it doesnt do any good . the heat is just melting things. the only things that dont seem to be affected by the heat at all is the marigolds and the zinnias lol they both seem to like it a lot. wonder if they could develope some that would come up in the spring and like the cooler wetter weather too then you could plant some of them in March and then again in May and would have color from April till November without any trouble lol ....

Yesterday i pickled and canned 15 pints of Jalapenoes , yummy. I buy those things all the time so that is why i grew so many of them....will probably have that many more to put up some way or the other before the plants quit producing. I have already put up 4 quart bags of them in the freezer that i took the tops off and took out the seeds and then filled them with cream cheese. i dipped and rolled them in batter and then flash froze them on trays then put them in baggies that way i can take out and use what i want to. for poppers ....the family likes them at thanksgiving and dinners. so i usually make a lot of them like that. then i have 6 small baggies filled with chopped ones for adding to things. i just break off a section and add it to different things ....

Today i am going to make some watermelon rind preserves. I know i cant have much at a time of them but i remember when i was a little girl and my grandmother made them ...they are really good or was in my memory. hope they still are. .

My new plantings of green beans are about ready to pick the first mess of them. hopefully they will be ready by tuesday and then i can put them up in the freezer.

wonder how you know when the sweet potatoes are ready to dig? will have to look that up . may be when the vines on top die back? anyone out there know?

well got to get busy the day is getting away from me .....talk to you all later.

Lots of rain last night and everything looks much greener today but it's really humid.  We went to IHOP for breakfast.  I ordered a waffle that came with bacon and eggs.  Today is not an egg day.  I'm just not going to order them again.  Even seeing someone else eat them, make my tummy roll.

My son and Barbara are coming for dinner for his birthday.  I'm having baked pork chops in Russian dressing and apricot preserves.  The preserves will be sugar free.  There will be mashed 'tators, "fried" apples, cottage cheese salad and SF cheesecake.

Jan, I used to love those poppers but I just can't eat spicy food now.....bummer.  I'm going to the farmer's market and hope I can get some green beans.  Max's potatoes are doing good at all.  The topsy-turvy is giving him a few tomatoes but the other 3 potted plants aren't doing anything.  I tasted watermelon preserves and really liked them but have never made them.

I need to get off here and get busy.  Need to dust and vaccuum and get the cheesecake made.

after having surgery one of the first things i ate when they said we could start eating other things was hot peppers. I was careful and too the seeds out and i had to grind it up really small but it was so good and yeah they always have and still do burn but i dont have any stomach trouble like some do ...which is good cause i have to take naproxin sodium for my arthritis pain twice a day....i also take a pepcid daily too. ...

if the watermelon preserves turn out good with the splenda i will put the reciepe on here if any one wants it....

love the squash recipe...that is one i make a lot...dont always have the ritz crackers for topping but you can use whole wheat saltines on it if you want .....

Stormy most of the night here so I am sleepy today. It is to hot and humid to go outside. I hate the humidity but the heat is not so bad. Texas is hot but dryer than here. This past winter was long and cold. I hate the thought of another one like it.
I cans see the weeds growing out there but can't get out to move just yet. I kinda miss doing it. I am going to ask the doctor if I can when I go back for my six week check. My flower beds are over run with weeds in only four weeks. I am thinking of giving up on them. Just to much trouble.

Hope you are all doing well.

wow where in Texas do you go that isnt humid ????well maybe the northern part or the pan handle...but in Houston and that area the humidity is 10 times what it is here. that is the reason we moved fr om down there. I just couldnt take it anymore. now this isnt much better. We are thinking about putting everything up for sale and paying everything off and buying a nice motor home and go from here to there. just go where the weather is nice  lol ....would have to have some potted flowers but nothing much else. Maybe if we stayed in a space for awhile could plant some flowers at the  entrance to take care of while i was there lol ....be like Johnny apple seed . only i would be Jan flower seeds

Anywhere in central Texas. I lived down at Ft Hood and for every 10 miles west you went it got 10% dryer. Not much humidity just heat. DS lives in Dallas and says its not too humid there. Houston is very humid and not where I would want to live . Dh's sister lives there.
