I'm worried b/c i've read that band revisions/removals who switched to RNY lost very little weight...

any knowledge of this? i'm 390+, about to have surgery in 5 days and after reading this stuff about revisions w/ the band to RNY, i'm worried if i am doing the right thing? i hate to risk my life to lose weight and then NOT lose any or barely any weight.

Some of the people i read about lost like 20-30 lbs then stopped. Dude, I have 200 to lose. I can't even imagine what I'd think if I lost only 20-30 lbs! I'd be devastated.

I know part of me is just nervous, but I keep thinking about the "what if's".

Thanks in advance!

Dr. Hornbostel does a wonderful job. He convertered many bands to RNY.  He will do everything possible to help you succeed.  He has stopped doing bands because he believes that they just don't work. They are too easy to defeat.  I think you will be very happy with your choice. Good luck.

If Dr H didn't think it would work he wouldn't do it. You are in good hands with him so stop your worry. Follow his rules and it will work  for you. Your life is about to change for the better and for good.

it is up to you and how willing you are to follow the rules. there are things you have to do and things you arent  suppose to do....so obey the rules and you will succede...there have been many that have lost more than you need to. take care .....let us know how you are doing ....and any questions you may have and im sure if you are like the rest of us you will have lots of them....we have lots of people on here that are newbies and lots of us oldies so if you need to know something holler

HI!  I had my rny almost 2 years ago.  The Dr. wanted me to loose 160, I've lost 180 lbs to date and still loosing.  I'd like to loose another 10 lbs.  It can be done!  Like everyone else said following the rules is KEY.  Even when you get out a year or so you still have to stick with what they told you to do in the begining.  Don't waver!  Best of luck to you.  I know you'll do great and you're going to feel like a million bucks! :D Lou
