WHATS HAPPENING ITS FRIDAY

I bought the plans for the Ark...anyone want to come help me build it ? It is pouring down again today....so far since Tuesday it has rained here 3 inches. the lake will be getting back up again if it doesnt stop soon ....

it does make it easier to pull weeds if you dont mind getting dirty and muddy ....i got 3 flower beds and two rows in the garden weeded yesterday . can get them by the roots when it is this wet, just need to keep a way to wash hands off every little bit lol
if it wasnt for the Preen i would be knee deep in weeds ....even with it i do a lot of weeding but not like i would with out it. and most of the weeds that get in there are from Joe and his lawn mower or weed eather. Im trying to keep the grass away from the outside of the bed a ways so he dont throw it up into the beds...

Well today is payday ...wont be anything left when i get thru doing the things i need to do.
have to go get chicken feed and corn and oyster shell too for them ran out of everything as of this morning....when it is wet like this their food gets wet easy...i told Joe he need to build a roof over the feeder so it doesnt get wet like it does..we have their water set up on a drip line so that they have fresh water all the time . of course with the weather like it is we had to turn it off they were wading knee deep in water, do chickens have knees?

some questions have been coming to me lately about our water and is it still important when you are 2 years and farther out...and i say a resounding   YES....what do all the rest of you think? also about the vits....and i do know the answer to that one is a deffinate yes....When you had  RNY you were told , or should have been , that you  would have to take vit.  supplements the rest of your life because of the food we eat doesnt absorb the way it did before ...using that statement is how i say that we still need at least one protein drink a day to add to your food intake because the amount of protein we eat in a days time is small at best and if you take some of the protein value  out of it due to malabsorption....then it needs to be replaced too. At least that is what i think...and that is how i feed me...so far i have had excelent labs, and i have only gained back 5 pounds which i took off fairly easily by upping my water and protein shakes and watching what else i put in my mouth...
Not sure if Banders have to take vits like we do or not...??? any banders out there care tocomment?

well going to get outside this morning and see what i can do in between rains...will chat with you all more....hope a lot of you will post away on the debate i started here ???lol like to stir things up once in awhile.

I saw the nutritionist last week and based on previous and current blood work my vitamins and protein intake is good . However I am not getting enough water. I thought most days I was but I guess not. I am terrible about keeping track of things so I just have to start drinking instead of snacking.

I went for my pre op in KC yesterday. Not much to say about it. Just got some scripts for after and was able to ask questions, which I could not think of any to ask. I will be glad to get it over with.

I haven't had as much rain as some of you. My grass and weeds are green again and growing so I guess I have had enough. As soon as it dries  I will be back on the lawnmower. I should be out weeding myself right now but I am watching last nights big brother after dark. I guess I will get sucked in this summer. It will give me something to watch while I recover I guess. Our satellite went out during the regular show last night for about half of it. Cable lines stop next door to me so I do not have many options.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and hope to see as many of you as possible in the morning @the waynesville meeting.

Trying to picture chicken knees....LOL  Building an ark is in the same category as gardening.  I could get sweaty doing that so I'll pass.

Jan, you mentioned yesterday about talking to each other somewhere other than here.  I was on Facebook but not any more.  Years ago a group from a WW message board formed a group and we have been together ever since emailing nearly every day.  We started with 10 and now there are 5 of us.  I feel like they are close friends although we've never met.

Max sat in on a couple sessions with Greg, one session being on grief and also met with Greg and his counselor.  His counselor told him he has to learn to cope with adversity in life and he can't turn to alcohol.  He is being released this afternoon and had a choice of doing the outpatient program there or going back to Valley Hope.  He chose OP because he hopes to go back to work.  OP sessions are 3 days a week from 10 to 2:30.  IF....his employer approved him doing OP he can, but they may want him to go back to VH.  I can understand his wanting to go home but is he ready?

Water.....I drink plenty.  My other favorite drink is iced tea.  I've discovered cold brew so every afternoon I put 2 bags in my 24 oz. glass.  Only thing is it's not decaf so I need to limit that.  Dr. Oz said you don't need to drink 8 glasses a day because you get fluid in the foods you eat, but I disagree with him.  I was on one diet where your water intake was based on ounces and your weight so I was to drink 14 glasses a day.  That was too much and it affected my Menier's (inner ear problem).

I have never felt like water did anything for weight loss.  A lot of people say they see their losses increase when they drinks more water, but I've not seen that.  A lot of times I think I'm hungry and I drink water and the hunger goes away.

Awwww come on and join me Jo, ill have you sweating and loving it....i get to sweating till im wringing wet all over just pulling weeds . good for you..

glad your son is getting couseling but he is right that it is all mainly up to him....i would think it was way too early for him to go home. I would hate to see him relapse... I think that people that are Alcoholics or drug addicts  just never learned to deal with life....everyone has problems and most dont depend on alcohol or drugs to get them thru life. makes you wonder doesnt it? like my youngest daughter , very intellegent but when problems arise it throws her into a tail spin....she things no one else has problems like she does.

they, whom ever they are, say that the water helps flush the fat out of the system when you are dieting and exercising....

I'm a Bander and no we do not have to take the supplements that RNYers and Sleevers do. Cause we absorb more from our food. That was one of the reasons I selected LapBand cause I am terrible about taking pills. If Banders follow the recommended diet, within reason, we are good to go. That might be one of the reasons we don't lose as quickly.... I'm not sure. Anyway they recommend the usual multi vit daily of course. But we are able to absorb the B vits because they are absorbed through the stomach wall. And iron is not a problem either.. normally.
The most fascinating thing between the surgeries to me is that studies show that 5 years out we reach goal weight the same. RNYers lose quickly after surgery and Banders lose slower at first but longer cause we don't have the honeymoon period. The human body is such an amazing thing.
We are getting rain on and off here too and the grass is growing faster than we like. But I will take mowing and weeding over snow and ice anytime.
Enjoy your day,
Connie

Connie thanks for all the good info about Banders....i thnk one of the main reasons that RNYs lose faster is because of the malabosion thing , wouldnt you think?

you bet i will take all of the bad things of summer that there is. humidity, bugs, mowing over winter any day...

i hope the next time the girls over there get together you can join them

Good Morning Mama Jan & MO Peeps:

Wow...I've been so busy this week!  It's been a LONG time since my house has been this clean.  There are still a couple rooms, like my closet, the laundry room that need to be really cleaned but got the rest done.  I LOVE the Shark Professional Machine I got at a garage sale last week.  I did burn myself a couple times so you have to be careful.  But man does it clean and sparkle!  I know the Lord helped me do it all, otherwise, I just couldn't have done it.  I'm hoping I'll be able to function Saturday!

I'm having a Fondue Party at my house tonight.  There are a few women from church and maybe one of my neighbors who are coming.  We're having chicken, pork, sirloin along with a cheese dip for veggies and a chocolate dip for fruit.  Should be a lot of fun!  I've never done one before so we will see if I do it again.  Good thing these girls won't care if it doesn't turn out..we will have fun regardless!  We're going to play games, watch movies, talk, etc.  I've banned Luke and Brad from the house for the entire evening.  They can stay at Brad's place on the Baker Campus!  :)

Saturday I'll be baking a 8lb pork tenderloin in my oven for Family Day at Bartle which is Sunday.  I may make some baked beans and brownies.  The boys all appreciate home cooking after being there a week.  Can't wait to see David and Jake.  This is the year I'll be doing the Mother/Son dance with Jake.  I remember doing the same dance with Luke about 5 years ago and I was 100 lbs heavier.  I'm hoping it won't wear be out as much!  Plus I should look better in the pictures.  I know, I know, vanity wins out again! lol!

Mama Jan - I know what you mean about the ark.  We have days it was pouring here too.  I think this weekend is suppose to be beautiful though.  I have to tell you people laugh at me because I have earthquake insurance for our house which is in Kansas.  I tell them that people laughed at Noah too because they had never even seen the rain!  That shuts them up.  We do live pretty close to that main vault somewhere in MO plus it doesn't cost but like 30 a year if that.  You just never know!   Glad to hear you're healing up.  ((((Mama Jan)))) Love you!

Jo - I'm still praying for Greg and for your family.  I'll be praying that whatever is best for Greg will happen - whether to go home and attend OP or go back to Valley Hope.  I know how it feels when you've prayed for so long and it seems as if God isn't listening.  I'm still praying for David to find a good job with a decent income and insurance.  It's been since November 2008.  I get discouraged but I read the Word every day and ask the Lord to help me thru the discouragement.  His Word says He will NEVER leave us NOR FORSAKE US!  I've gotta keep my eyes on HIM and not on this world.  Easier said than done, but the Word says, and I've always found he is FAITHFUL!  ((((Jo)))) Hope you have a great weekend.  Can't wait until we get to meet again sometime later this month or in August.

Jeanine - Still praying for you too.  I'm glad you're trying to keep busy.  Will be praying you're able to get more work.  How often are you in the KC area?  Maybe we could plan a get together when you're in town?  Would be great to meet you in person!

Barbara S -Hope everything is going good for you.  Can't wait to see you again too!

Connie - I'm glad to see you posting more!  I considered the Lap Band but for various reason chose the RNY.  Glad the Lap is working so well for you.  I'm hoping that you can go to lunch with us the next time we all meet in OP.  We could plan to meet somewhere close to where you work if that would be easier for you.  Would love to meet you!

Well, guess I'd better scoot.  I've got a few more things to do then I'm going to have to lay down before my guests start arriving - between 6:30 and 7:00 otherwise I'll be too tired to enjoy the party!  Sad but true.

Love you all!

I think I'm going to have to get on here earlier if i want to be part of the community! :) You guys are morning folk.

At the end of day 5 of the pouch test. Oh my goodness, what a gift. Thank you Jan sooooo much for recommending I look it up. I honestly thought I was the one person Gastric Bypass didn't work for. Turns out I was doing it all wrong. My pouch has tightened right up and tonight I barely got 3 oz of steak down. Actually not quite 3 oz.

We haven't had nearly the rain here in Lebanon. Just a couple of storms yesterday but had sun again before sunset. Looking like a really great weekend. Wish I could be in the sun instead of taking my kid to Springfield for camp clothes.

I do need to pay closer attention to supplements. What kind of calcium are we supposed to take?
