Daily Bible Reading - Wednesday - June 9th

Today’s reading was pretty interesting.  In the Old Testament we have Solomon building the temple that God actually wanted David to build but David never got to do it.  Reading about how the temple was put together you can just imagine how beautiful it was, especially on the inside that was lined with gold.  It took them 7 years to build, that seems like a long time but back then I guess everything was done by manual labor, no machines nothing, all done by hand,  that makes the temple even more special to me.  Putting that together must have been like putting a huge puzzle together, having to get every piece just right, having to carve each stone, each piece of wood just right so that it fit perfect, talk about workmanship, I can just imagine how beautiful the temple really was.  David and Solomon both had to of really listened close to what God told them in how to build the temple, just like in the devotional, we really have to listen to what God says closely and seek out His Word in our lives in order to do what He wants us to do and how He wants us to do it, for me I need to focus more on what God is telling me, that’s so important so not to get His instructions wrong.

Today’s Reading

1 Kings 5:1-6:38
Acts 7:1-29
Psalm 127:1-5
Proverbs 16:28-30

Daily Devotional

"Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing"
(Proverbs 12:18; NIV)

It's easy to see how words can be used as a weapon. We've all either been "cut" by the words of others, or we've used words to put someone "in their place." The truth of the matter is when we use words recklessly or in a way that cuts others, we are not being wise. The scripture tells us that the tongue of the wise brings life and healing to others.

Today, look for ways to be wise. Find something nice to say about someone or share an encouraging word. You never know how you can bring healing to a person's heart by sharing a kind, gracious word. And remember, words are like seeds. When you plant words of life and blessing into others, you're sure to reap a harvest of blessing in your own life in return.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, today I choose to be wise. I submit my tongue to You and choose to use it for good and not for evil. Show me ways to be a blessing to others. Help me find creative ways to encourage the people You have placed in my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
